Default hp dv5-1044ca blu ray wont work

Hey

I have a hp dv-1044ca laptop with a blu ray player. However, whenever i try to play a blu ray movie it wont load on quickplay or any other player. And for some reason when i download an update from the hp website it wont let me install the updates and mentioned something about the file being corrupted and i shd find the file and check its integrity.

Im not too bright on computers and i have no idea what to do. My guess would be to install new drivers for the blu ray player or something. Any ideas?

What other players?

Most Original player softwares are less than great - try a full version like ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre or PowerDVD 8 Ultra.

Because, the studios are updating the BD keys and OEM software rarely gets updated fast enough to keep up.
These VAIOs came with WinDVD BD - chokes and pukes on WALL-E.
Just sits there and does nothing.
I deleted it.

Whereas PowerDVD 8 and ArcSoft play anything that gets thrown at them.
They get updated when needed.

Not always. WinDVD BD for VAIO supports BD-Live. WinDVD 9 Plus Blu-ray retail version doesn't and no word of when they are going to add BD-Live support for the retail version.

OP, you may need to update the video driver. If you use modded driver, you have to remove it and only install the official one. BD if very picky on which video card you can install and will not accept modified driver, only the official one.

WinDVD BD for VAIO, here, with the latest update will not play WALL-E.
Probably others, I removed it after that instance.

Agreed on the video driver!
Use the recommended one from the machine manufacturer.
