3 Days of the Condor - May 19th
UPDATE As of Spring 2011 The Paramount US edition is OOP 3days.jpg Paramount is releasing 3 Days of the Condor on May 19th. Specs 1080p video accompanied by a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. Hopefully Paramount will continue releasing their BDs with the healthy storage space rates that have been using. Now if WARNER would release The Candidate (it was reported sometimes ago that Redford recorded a commentary track for a new release, not sure if it will be released on standard dvd only or Blue also) Last edited by PowellPressburger; 03-24-2011 at 05:05 PM. |

But yeah, I'll take all of those. And throw in Chinatown, The Deer Hunter, Serpico, The Conversation, Manhattan, Annie Hall, and The Last Detail while you're at it. Was there anything better than American cinema of the 1970s? |

'I'm mad as hell & I can't take it anymore...' - Whats with WBros/Paramount & these bare bones Blu's, they have these wonderful 2-disc standards yet they treat blu's like red-headed-steps. Still will get CONDOR as it is a personal fav, but seriously, they need to bring the A-game, especially to Sydney's films.

How do people tell when titles like 3 Days of the Condor are going out of print? Within a day of it going out of print, third party prices instantly shot up to $60.
By contrast, the BD of Casablanca seemed to go out of print (Amazon stopped selling it directly), but 3rd party prices remained low. A few days later, Amazon again started selling the BD of Casablanca. How did all the sellers distinguish between a title that was only temporarily out of print (Casablanca), knowing not to raise the price, and a title like 3 Days of the Condor, knowing that it was "permanently" out of print and instantly tripling the price? Is there a way to be notified when a title is about to go out of print? |

The sellers are definitely conspiring against the buyers.
![]() LOL! It's less than a week since I bought it, and the lowest price is already twice the amount I paid for it. I should have asked the seller for insurance. I hope my copy won't be stolen on its way. Last edited by Alexios Cassius; 03-29-2011 at 11:05 PM. |

What about the Studio Canal version? Lemme guess...it's region-locked isn't it?
EDIT: Actually, the Studio Canal site says Region A-B. Is this correct? Aside from the shipping, the packaging for this and Breathless is amazing. It's part of the reason why I never purchased the Paramount Blu-ray. Are there any significant differences between the two (maybe moot point considering I won't find the Paramount version for anything less that $115 now)? Not sure why this title is still listed as OPP, but it must be back in print, as I picked up a copy from Amazon for $8.99. A fave from the 70s, Condor is not a great film, but does perfectly capture a moment in time. Solid screenplay and related performances from an exceptional cast, especially from Sydow, overcome more than a few plot holes and narrative misses.

For those interested in the different blu ray versions, you can see the differences here.
The reviewer here argues the commentary on the studio canal version (Region A+B) is not worth it, as it offers no real insights on film making. He concludes the master of cinema version (if you can play Region B) is the way to go for those who want extras. |

Fantastic news: this is gonna be re-released in the theatres across France (30 September) and the prints are from a new 4K resto!! So now I know this has been rescanned properly. I think this is OoP in the States, so we can hope for a new release...
![]() ![]() ![]() ps. the new resto will premiere at the Deauville Festival, in early September. |

So any chance the French steelbook that is shown everywhere with Redford on front has the back with the red bird in the target, the opposite of the UK and German versions (and maybe they just swapped the image for the stock image listing)?
