Default Funai Financial report: Launching of blu-ray player in 2007

Look at page 13 of this PDF.
aslo stated that it was Awarded 2006 Billion Dollar Supplier Prize by WalMart.
Funai is a Japanese OEM manufacturer. You may see their products marketed under many different brand names. They aim towards the low end of the market. You may see their products sold under Funai, Symphonic, Sylvania, Emerson, Aventura, Durabrand, Esa, Magnavox, and Misakai . Funai's DVD equipment has captured a high share of the North American market.

I must admit that since this is in English (if not faked), it is very intriguing.

A financiel report should be consideret as very reliable source. They will probably launch a Blu-ray player, we just don't no when, why, how...

Maybe they are producing 2 mio. players for Wal-mart

This older article supports the Blu-ray player news, but I don't think the $500 price range is exactly where Blu-ray wants to be for a no name player (well Emmerson or whatever other names they use).

I agree.... But alot has changed since febuary, a cheap player could be good, but there are a lot of angles on these questions

It was announced by Funai in their corporate report to shareholders. Hard to be any more official.

This is good news, but as with the "Cheap Chinese Player" mantra the HD-DVD crowd has been chanting, I don't think it's going to make a big difference at this point...not yet, anyway.

They divulge this to their stockholders at a meeting then you can pretty much bank on it happeneing ,again it`s when but I don`t see a problem with a lower cost bd if it gets out to the masses ,why not compete and really kick hddvd in the jimmy ,lol
