7.1 Surround setup - Blu-ray Forum

I have Polk Monitor 50s for the front, 30s for the rear and a CS1 for the center. Should I get Monitor 30s for the sides or move my 30s from the rear to the side and get 50s for the rear? Or option 3, just stay at a 5.1 setup.

If you have the space for 7.1, I would go with Monitor 40s as surrounds and move your Monitor 30's to surround backs.

Get the Polk 50's for the sides and move the 30's to the rear. I have heard that setup and it sounds pretty good.

That's another good idea. T90Es for fronts, Monitor 50s as surrounds and monitor 30s as surround backs.

While I really like my 7.1 setup, sadly, most studios produce for the majority of the installed systems, which are 5.1. I still think it's worth it, but if you are using analog inputs be prepared to have silent back surrounds most of the time. If you are decoding in your AVR, you can matrix the backs.

I think I am going to hold off at the moment and just focus on getting the 5.1 up since I have never had a HT before. I need to see if I'm happy with it first before I go and try to fix it. BTW, I have the maple cabinets so I'm trying to stay away from getting another color at the moment.
