Default Problems with new blu ray player

Hi guys,

I have a samsung home theater blue ray player, model HT-BD2E shown here:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1210290067287

I bought the item and noticed that the audio drops out quite a bit when playing blu-ray or DVD's. Some movies are fine sometimes, sometimes not.

When I watch TV of any kinda it's fine.

When I play movies and only have sound coming out of the included surround sound speakers, sometimes will drop the sounds for maybe a second. I'll miss like one word in sentence and it will pick back up.

I've tried turning on digital audio compression in the system menu and it seemed to help with the length of the drop out, but it still happens quite a bit.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Do Samsung units like these have firmware updates?

Yes. As of two nights ago I had the most recent firmware.

Right now, I'm exactly impressed with this unit as the menu doesnt have alot of technical options available. There's not alot of room to tweek things, other than turning audio compression on or off.

Try alot of new BDs .see if its your player or just DVDs...
If its still under warranty .....exchange it NOW ...before you have to stuck with it...IMO.
Read some more reviews about Samsung players .....before you take on another sam.
Have fun.

As of 10 minutes ago I've exchanged the player out for a Sony S550, after reading some reviews on the forums. Wish I had found this place first.

Well good, you got your self a realy nice play. It does everything you could want & then some. Stay away from Samsung BD players. You had one, saw what it was like & have moved on to bigger & better. Nice pick with the Sony!
