Default 1.80 also supports media streaming through Windows Media Player 11

I don't have any specific details, but I just read about it on PS3updates forums.

WMP Tools>Options>Library>Configuring Sharing> Allow "Unknown Device"

Even though the device shows up in the PS3s menu I still had to do a scan before I could actually access it. Works great for pictures and music, but video is still kind of sucky since the number of files formats and codecs the PS3 supports is rather low.

Please note, only Media player 11 only! No feature built in on 9 or 10. Windows has something called media connect 2.0 that basically performed the same basic function for older versions, but I don't think you can download it anymore. That's how they get you to download the most current version of wimp.

Agreed. I'd rather use an open source alternative for my Linux laptop than WMP on my crappy Windows rig.

I couldn't get it to work with itunes(even though it has a sharing feature!!!)...only WMP 11.

I used twonkymedia to access my itunes library, but the files(AAC) were unsupported...doh!

Streaming mpeg2 files in hd was very choppy and had no audio, but mpeg1's and pictures played great! It's a start!

The PS3 supports AAC but not AAC Lossless. I know this because I've plugged my iPod before and the AAC files played.

It could be that Twonkymedia is not supporting AAC sharing.
