Default Windows Media Player

I'm running Windows XP and would like to know if Windows Media Player will support Blu-ray? Or will I need to purchase different media software to play blu ray movies?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

It appears that the upcoming Windows Vista will support BD.

If XP media centre doesn't there are many others out there better and cheaper (but you need to know how to deal with LINUX) so XP will - it may take a few weeks, but M$ has little control over it anyway as providers can write their own drivers.

Microsoft definitely doesn't want to support Blu-ray, but they might change their mind if things don't go their way. Time will tell, but there will definitely be lots of other media players that will support it.
