Default Warning! Product placement throughout the movie!

There should be warning labels like that in every movie or tv show that has product placement.
I just can't stand it, when I watch a movie, I want to escape, not be reminded I'm in this world where these products actually really exists.
Products that are placed so you notice them, takes away the experience
for me.
I, Robot for instance would have been much better without product placement. (and Shia Lebouf edited out of it ).

What is your opinion?

Could a mod please edit poll answer no. 3:
"No and the label would never happen, BUT could be nice."

If a director allows a product to be shown in his movie then the movie has a bigger budget. Bigger budgets allow for more of the stuff I like.

I have no problem with it.

Now, running commercials in the theater before or between previews? I hate that sh1t.

I think the "bigger budget" argument is BS from the movie bosses, or directors
with no morals.
It is a extraordinary opportunity to make $$$, I see that.
Alex Proyas had trouble with I, Robot and 20 cent. fox, and I bet
he prefered not to have products in the movie like that.
QT makes his own brands! that's cool.

i don't mind it, and if it wasn't for product placement i wouldn't know that dell laptops are built compatible with alien technology, all you gotta do is plug em in when the situation arrises (stargate sg-1 )
i actually find it funny, since its usually done blatantly in mostly popcorn flicks

Does the money go on the screen, or in somebody's pocket?

It's a scam, man. You're the one paying for everything you see, not some advertiser.

Lol, I was going to mention the same thing. The only one in that movie that somewhat annoys me is the panasonic SD card. My god they hold it in a closeup aiming at the camera for like 2 seconds.

Oh noes! 2 seconds!

Anything but THAT in an hour and a half movie!

Woe to Panasonic!

Woe I say!

Come on folks, it's minor product placement is what you're talking about, most {if not all} of these examples don't really take away from the movie, does anyone truly think that the mega ad for a soft drink company takes away from Blade Runner?

I also hate in real life when I'm driving and I see all these Ford and Chevy and BMW cars all over the place, it totally takes away from the driving experience.

Then when I go out to eat and I see those Heinz ketchup bottles, my meal is ruined!

Don't even get me started when about when I walk around the mall and see signs for stores like Best Buy, Sears, and McDonalds! Totally ruins my day.

Yeah, but you don't pay for the privelege of seeing that stuff every day.

You pay for movies. It's different.

Now, if you go around during your day and see a 60 foot robot getting thrown through a billboard for Sears, you are getting a deal.

If you go to the movies and pay for this, you're getting ripped off.

In Blade Runner they depict a dystopian future. Pollution is prevalent and big (really big) corporations/conglomerates thrive in a grim future.
They way I see it, it's not really a good thing for coca cola to be represented in the movie.
To me there was a good reason for this.

Product placement is still product placement.

Is that because Transformers is just one big product placement turned into a film? (I'm sure I will be corrected, but did not the toy come before the film?).

As for product placement, it's a fact of filmaking life, especially for the more high budget films. Mostly it does not bother me, but sometimes I do sit there thinking I am watching an advert, and I sort of laugh, spotting an actor holding a soft drink or coffee product so that the label is clearly visible.

Yes, it bugs me too. It just reminds you that you are watching a movie. Its cheesey.

The only tolerable exception would be Victorias Secret products.
