Default Do you want better sound?

I read so many threads with people wanting to upgrade speakers, receivers and so on, when in fact they could greatly improve their sound by treating the room and better placement of their gear. I am about to undergo a complete acoustic treatment in my room and will post pics when I'm done, but if you really want to improve the sound in you HT look at some other options other than upgrades, you might be surprised how good your gear can really sound, and there are many ways to do this for under $100.

There are many threads on blu-ray, one that i like in particular is https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=61681

and one of the most interesting video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbLVjHfHahg pay very close attention in this video to the seating chart, it's very important to have your sofa 38% of the distance to either the front wall or the back wall, i did not know about this tip and applied it tonight and i can say the bass in the system came to life i am now in a sweet spot and not the dead zone, i have been installing systems for 10 years and never new of this, it took an audio engineer who understands everything there is about sound waves and the way the travel to explain this little tip to me.

I have known about Eathan Winer for a very long time and is a genius when it comes to sound, you can build panels similar to his for a fraction of the cost it just might take some time and research to get the right materials.

Well the project will start today i just have to get to the hardware store and pick up the materials for the big project, i am planning on building 12 to 15 acoustic panels ranging in sizes from 2' by 4' and some smaller ceiling panels for the corners.

Will update as soon as I'm done

Good luck! Room treatment will definitely be something I get around to doing once I graduate and have my own place. I look forward to hearing how it all goes!

I look forward to your results. This has been something I have pondered about since I got my new speakers and subs. My room is a funny shape, but I'm sure I can get some valuable pointers from what you come back with. Good luck!

What want to do is something similar to what Robinandtami has done, but instead, on my ceiling - acoustical ceiling tiles, wrapped in black fabric, mounted on the ceiling. But, I want to hear about your experience, as well!

Nice work there Twitch9! Are the frames 1x2's? What kind of fibre fill did you use? And most importantly...what's the total cost? LOL!
