hello,
so Im really hoping someone can help me with this confusion. I own a Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-36HS510 36". it displays 1080i. I have it hooked up to my PS3 with a component cable but wanted to try and take advantage of the new ps3 firmware upgrade. Mostly for the upscaling of standard DVD's. SO..... my Dishnetwork HD receiver is hooked up to my Sony VIA a monster DVI to HDMI cable. The picture looks great and it WORKS. So i tried to switch the hdmi to the ps3 and i'm getting no picture?? I changed the settings to hdmi on the ps3.. nothing. Switched it back to the HD receiver.. picture clear as day. Can someone please shed some light on this problem and how I might fix it? thanks so much! David ![]() |

hi!
Im not sure what you mean.. I dont think I have an actual hdmi setting. I have my display settings set for 1080i and on somponent d-terminal. I try to switch it to hdmi, unplug the component and hook up the hdmi, click ok to reset and get a blank picture... could the problem be the kind of cable? I just assumed all dvi to hdmi cables were the same but im seeing that some have more open 'slots' than others? |

press and hold the reset(?) button upon restart. that should put all you setting back to default and should give you the options to select what you want.

still not working.. its just not letting me do the dvi to hdmi thing.
would the bd/dvd settings be what you might be talking about? I notice its set to 1080p.. but I have a 1080 i.. should that be changed? again I dont see a bd 1080i option.. just a 1080p |

deselect anything ur display has as 1080p. im a little drunk (pulling a tivo guy?) but restting ur system should recalibrate it. otherwise, i feel it has to be with ur current settings.

I've got my PS3 hooked up to a KV-36HS500 via HDMI-to-DVI cable... upscaling works great for me... no issues.
I'm not entirely sure what the difference is between the 510 and 500, but I can't imagine them to be vastly different. |

I know this might not help you but I thought I'd post it. It may be helpful to others who are planning on using HDMI to DVI cable for the computer monitors. Before I bought my Sony XBR2 I had the PS3 (and 360) hooked up to my Gateway FPD2485W 24" LCD screen. excellent gamin screen, BTW. Anyway, it worked for me because the DVI on the Gateway itself is HDCP compliant for this monitor. My bro-in-law tried to do the same thing with a Sony monitor using the same HDMI- DVI cable and it didn't work for him. His DVI inputs weren't HDCP compliant. I only got 1080i back then with using the HDMI to DVI cable.

I have read from a couple of ppl had issues after the update and when they turned the 24fps to off the display and PS3 worked. The PS3 may think that the tv can do 24fps and it can not. I think you will find it under BD settings.

Equally as dumb question: Are you using a DVI-D to HDMI cable and not a DVI-I to HDMI cable?

whats up blu? YES i selected the hdmi selection. no change.
BUT FILTER... maybe im dumb because I dont know what the difference is between DVI-D and DVI-I. how can I tell a difference??.. in fact what is the difference? I basically switched the dvi - hdmi cable I had running on my dish netword HD receiver to the ps 3 thinking it would do the trick. Not the case? im looking at the case of my unusable hdmi/dvi cable now and all it says is just that. doesnt specify dvi-d or i. |
