Default Formula One 2009, Any Fans?

Just finish watching qualifications of the Australian Grand Prix, new rules seem to be making the competition much more interesting for this new season.

Any one else fans of F1? Been watching every races since 1978 with Gilles Villeneuve started racing.

Not a huge fan but I like to know what's going on and I usually check out the races when I can. I was going to go to my first race this year in Montreal but we all know that won't happen

It's possible the race will be back for 2010, they need to get rid of Bernie EckOLDstone IMO.

Everything is much more balance it seem, Brawn GP manage to place both their cars 1-2, Sebastien Vetel in third. Ferrari way down in 6 and 7 places, McLaren 14 and 15 places. The way thinks are looking, the competion this year could be the best and closest in years, which is cool.

Interesting first race, just finish watching it. Look's like it's going to be a fun season.

I guess not many fans of F1 on here? Board as too many North American members, all about NASCAR

Only just saw the thread - I love F1 and as a Brit I am over the moon that Jensen won; he and Reuben's deserve it after the hellish two years they've had.

Shame about Trulli being demoted, but great for Hamilton - in a rubbish car he still got 3rd place!!

I hope Brawn GP can keep the momentum going; they should be fine for next week but it wont be long till the other teams sort out their problems...

A great first race for 2009 and a great F1 success story for the Virgin Brawn GP team

BIG F1 FAN HERE!!!!!!! Love it and am a big fan of Ferrari. I never miss a race when its on. Nice to know there is other F1 fans out there such as myself. Havent seen the race yet but I am gonna catch it when it airs at 3:30pm. From what I heard the Brawn team had a dominating race and really I aint surprised with Ross Brawn running things. Too bad the president of Ferrari couldnt keep his over flated ego in check and kept Brawn and Todt and maybe talked Schumacher into staying a few more years but no he had to push them out the door thinking that Ferrari would keep on winning no matter who was running things. Well reality check is now in place because my beloved Ferrari tanked and stunk up the joint from what I heard today. I say get rid of Kimi and Massa and bring in Fernando Alonso next year. Why not? The guy is a winner and bested the great Schumacher 2 years in a row for the world championship. Yea I know he whines alot but give him a great car and he's a sure fire champion.

That being said I love F1 and to me it beats the hell out of Nascar anyday of the week. My only problem is is the Speed Channel is not in HD! God how I would love to watch F1 in HD and hope it happens soon.

Update, it seem liek the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is in financial trouble and might have to pull out, there is serious talk of replacing this race with a race in Montreal, let's keep the fingers cross.

I think this year the level between teams has been evened out and will make it more interesting. I think the dominating years of my beloved Ferrari is over. Its gotton to political now that Schumacher, Todt and Brawn are gone and the owner seems to believe that anyone can win if they drive for Ferrari. Thats not the case anymore because if you ask me the car is no longer reliable and that blame goes to the designers of the car itself. Plus the new rules and regs dont favor Ferrari anymore, that includes McClaren as well. I see the 2 biggest problems right now for team Ferrari is the reliablity of the car and the drivers. Kimi and Massa. They dont have what it takes ala Michael Schumacher but lets face it nobody really does when it comes to Michael. I think he could still race and win championships today if he returned but as Michael said "theres no chance of that". Maybe Brawn could talk him out of retirement? Anything is possible. That all being said I dont think Ferrari will do much this year and I dont think Hamilton will repeat as champion. Brawn looks very strong and I think its Buttons turn. I hope I am wrong about Ferrari and I know its only one race but after watching the race yesterday it dont look good.

Wouldn't consider myself a fan but the crashes are the only thing i watch for, you may consider me heartless but i also watch Nascar just for the crashes too!

Big crashes (so long as no one really gets hurt) are a draw for all motor sports and there were a couple of coming togethers in this race.

Ferrari? Lose Raikonnen, he's overrated and only delivers when he's got a great car under him; some drivers can get more out of a car than the car should be able to give - he's not one of them.

Masa? I like him, he can stay

Button has always had the promise of being a great driver and maybe champion but his career has been dogged by problems until now, just when he thought his career was over it suddenly takes off like never before! He's a nice guy too, down to earth, clearly loves what he does.

Unbelievable debut for BrawnGP. I wonder if it will hold up?

It's great to see Williams finally returning to form.

Williams is my favorite so I am glad to see them with good cars once more. They might have to do something about Nakagima, not so sure he is as good a pilot as Rosberg?

This 2009 season might actualy be very fun to watch, not seeing the same 2 cars always winning. No offense to Ferrari and Mclaren but it was getting a little old seeing them win all the time because they were the only one with the real money. With the new rules we might see a real race for the championship.

I like watching Indy racing but NASCAR I just can't, coverage on FOX and ESPN for NASCAR is terrible, it feel's sometimes like half the race is under yellow and they stop for the most stupid things. Give me F1 anytime of the day.

Love F1 don't watch it as often as I would like to, but keep telling my kids if I ever won a lottery the 1st thing I would do is follow the F1 circuit for a year - that would be cool....

I didn't watch it all last season as I didn't have satellite service then. It's nice being able to watch it again.

Damn, didn't realize the season was starting already!

I watch when I can, and also route for either Red Bull Racing or Toro Rosso. Looks like Toro is already having a better year - when is Red Bull going to drop those slow Renaults and get some Ferraris?
