Question Dedicated Amp vs Receiver Amp Help i'm confused

My father is in the realm of finishing his home theater and he wants a dedicated Amp. Well I have always been his left hand man in the Audio/Video world.
But im stomped and need help.

Here's his setup

Deftech BP7006 L/R tower's

Deftech BP2002 Center channel

Deftech Promoniter 1000 bookshelf speakers,surrounds X4

There all capable of handling 200 watts

He wants to use His Onkyo TX-SR705 as the processor.

Here the choices I gave him on amps

http://emotiva.com/upa7.shtm

http://outlawaudio.com/products/7075.html

Not only do I want to know which Amp is better but also what improvements sound wise will he get.

Thanks in advance KingRadicalPhil

The Emo is 125 watts A channel at 8 ohms .
The Outlaw is 75 watts A channell at 8 ohms .

The EMO would be my choice !!
A sep.amp will sound much better ! the sound is more crisp & cleaner Than the sound just the receiver can produce !

There are plenty of threads in the Pre/Pro and Separate Section on this topic. Read them. I will move this thread there.

Crazy, my new toy arrived today, the UPA-7. Spent the afternoon reworking some wiring and adding extender panels to my Salamander cabinet. As you described, I noticed immediately the crisp sound. I'm still processing with my Yamaha 1800, but all channels are driven through the Emotiva. Today starts my 30 day trial, but I think its a keeper. My system is so well balanced, I'm going to pass on the XPA-5/XPA-2 combination.

I was worried about any hum or hissing, quiet as a mouse. An ever so slight hum from the amplifier itself, but this is quite normal and to be expected.

Unfortunately, I'm running out of things to buy... Please.

I just broke into the realm of seperates myself. I went with an Emotiva XPA-3
to power my L/C/R speakers, powering my surrounds with the Marantz sr4002.
The clarity and crispness, even at high volume, is much better than the receiver
itself. Gave it all a good workout over the weekend!

Looks like he's got great taste in speakers!

I plan on my next upgrade being a two or three-channel amp in the future.

Well, I've had my Emotiva UPA-7 for 4 days now, and the smile just won't go away! I'm having that much fun with it. The dialog is clear and crisp, soundtracks are warm and rich. Dynamic range during action scenes is just phenomenal. A wonderful experience. The UPA-7 is quality home theater amp. +1 on the recommendation.

The Emotiva is really nice I might start saving for the 7 channel 200 watts one I think that is the best one they offer. I need something to get my Klipsch's rockin like they should.

The UPAs are 10% off, I couldn't pass that up. I'm waiting for Emotiva to produce a 200W x 7 channel A/B class amp, then I'll upgrade. Until then, the UPA-7 is the work horse.

I'm currently on the UMC-1 preorder list, but I'm real happy with my Yamaha receiver and BD player. They simply work flawlessly, if it aint broken...

I agree you. I want 200watts. My power amp all 7 channel 190 watts at only 4ohm.

Makes a big difference, doesn't it!

My next upgrade will be speakers, my Cerwin Vegas sound good for what they
are, but you know how pesky that upgrade bug can be!
