have you seen it...........on weeeeeeed???????

Just kidding man. Seriously though, I saw this in the theater a few months back and really enjoyed it. But I have to admit that there was a great deal that went over my head. I'm sure it will benefit from repeat viewings. To be honest, this somehow slipped under my radar as I was not aware it was even out on blu-ray! I'm going to Target tomorrow for the B1G1 so I'll be looking for this as well!
Whats the PQ/AQ like? Worth the purchase?

The first three quarters of the film I thought were good but not great. The final 30 minutes of that film are positively OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD-AWESOME!!!!

We are all the main characters in our own play of life and need to realize that the minor characters in our story are playing the lead in another show that is just as important as the one we star in.

seriously? there is another thread discussing the Target sale somewhere around here. Don't wanna hijack this thread, but yeah they have a B1G1 sale starting tomorrow- BUT, its only on select titles. Look for the Ad online. Some good titles listed and I'm hoping when I get in store there will be even more offered!

Great performances all round, but really struggled to 'get it'. I'm definitely sure that I did NOT understand it fully... YET... at the end I was in tears and can't stop thinking about it. Haunting and weird... maybe a second viewing will enhance my appreciation.

Phillip Seymour-Hoffman, Diane Wiest, Tom Noonan, and Catherine Keener were awesome. Couldn't stand Jennifer Jason Leigh's character.

You won't be alone at all in not getting it. It certainly is a film that is very metaphorical or open to having to delve deep into it's interpretations.

If you liked the film enough though, I'd recommend watching some YouTube videos about some of it's meanings etc. Not all of the interpretations are necessarily correct, but it certainly helps with building together a bigger picture of what some things mean, and helps to create a better appreciation of the film.

Thanks! Yes, I'm doing that. I'm watching a series of videos called 'The Genuis Of Synecdoche, New York' and it's fascinating how much is packed into this movie.

Regardless of my opinion of the film... I can't seem to forget about it. It really stays with you.
The last film that did that was the Diane Lane / Kevin Costner 'neo-western' "LET HIM GO" which also had underlying themes and haunted me for days on end. Although that was much more 'traditional' and 'straight forward; in comparison to this.
