Default Fox Blu-ray Audio Problem

My Samsung BD-P 1500 provides great audio for all Blu Ray DVD's except those made by 20th Century Fox. The sound quality deteriorates as the DVD plays to the point that it is actually garbled. Yet sound quality on my 5 speakers, including 2 wireless surround speakers is wonderful on all other brand DVD's???

Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to bring it back for repair because the sound quality is so great on all other brands. Unless I can get this fixed, I have no choice but to stop buying Blu Ray's made by Fox...

Please Help !!!

Thanks,

Rick

Have you updated to the latest firmware version for your player?

...yeah, that means old firmware with today's players. Update it to the newest firmware and try it again.

Are you using optical or HDMI?

Using optical, the only HDMI cable I can use on the 1500 is set up for the video.

OK, my next question is how long have you had this player? I ask as I want to know if you had issues before any updates or if the unit is new and came with the most up to date firmware. If you did the update, did it play FOX titles before the most recent firmware update? I am reading in this thread:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t=samsung+1500
that a firmware update created havoc with playing ability. Might be worth the read if you haven't already. If you didn't do the update and it just has never played FOX titles, this thread might be able to help explain as well.

I know you said that it plays fine with other titles, but the optical cable could also potentially be damaged. Doubtful, but something to keep in mind. Also, are you sending the audio out via bitstream? What audio are you choosing in the Fox titles that causes it to skip? DTS-HD MA? I'm wondering if this is only occurring with DTS/DTS-HD titles, which I think is pretty much all Fox uses.

What kind of receiver (if any) are you using? Does it have any difficulty with other DTS/DTS-HD titles?

Using a Samsung receiver and Bitstream for all the audio. The receiver came with the 1500 last Sept when I bought the system. Did the firmware upgrade a few months ago, and that may be when the problem started but not 100% sure about that. I think wer noticed the problem and than did the one and only samsung firmware upgrade for the 1500 last December but it has not helped at all.

Aramis is on to something here if that is true about DTS-HD MA and FOX titles, as your receiver cannot decode this and you would need to bitstream to a capable receiver to decode it for you. There appears to have been many firmware updates to address the DTS-HD MA playability, but apparently it still is an issue. Also, I think your player is up to firmware 2.3 which came out after December, on January 6th.....? Lastly, you would need HDMI from your player for DTS-HD MA......just some more food for thought.

When I go to the Samsung Web site it only shows on firmware upgrade for the BD-P 1500 which I did last year. Where can I get the 2.3 upgrade?

Yeah honestly, I think this has to do with DTS-HD MA. If you had another title that uses DTS-HD MA that isn't Fox, I'd definitely pop it in. *edit* To note, you'll only get 2.0 DTS-HD MA over optical, but you've noted you're getting NO sound.

Bitstreaming over optical should give you the core 1.5Mbps 5.1 DTS mix, not a 2.0 mix. Does the receiver show that it's receiving 5.1 DTS?
