Qustion about transfer quality

First, I didn't know what to catagorize this under. Anyway, I have owned a blu player for over a year, but are now, for some reason, just getting into the technical specs. What are reviewers are talking about when they mention edge enhancement, video noise, image softness, and the many different audio versions? Any help in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.

well theres probably some sort of FAQ thread that would explain this much better but...

edge enhancement - this is a proccess applied during the trasfer to artificially sharpen the image so that it appears more crisp and defined but leads to a lot of side effects like slight hallos around edges and color banding (where the graduation from one shade to the next appears choppy)

video noise - looks sort of like grain on film but appears more digital and happens only on video due to low lighting and or other conditions

image softness - not as sharp as could be - sometimes due to camera focus or film type...other times due to transfer issues

as far as audio there are a lot of problems that can occur especially on heavily compressed lossy tracks but I'm not sure where to start
