Default Sony VS Samsung

I am wanting to get a new tv, and am torn between the two. I LOVE Sony!! But the prices of some of their upcoming sets are just getting a little crazy. I have never had a Samsung, and I like some of their new stuff, with the exception of all the TOC sets. (still don't get the red on everything). Any thoughts? I am looking at a 52" Right now I have the Sony 50" SXRD rear projection. Thanks for the feedback!

Just to make A point to the OP ! This is my LN52A750 TOC (red) display !
you can barely even see the red on the bezel on the 750's .

Personally, I prefer Sony LCDs. Better contrast and much less reflection and glare. Most Samsung's seem to have an alternate purpose as a mirror. Can't have shiny surfaces in my HT. Just my preference.

I agree with you. I the biggest reason to buy a LCD over a plasma is less glare, they completely ruin that reason. Not that Samsung ever rates poorly, but Sony usually rates higher among professional ratings...that doesn't include consumer reports, because that is a different type of rating system. Price set aside, I would only buy a sony LCD.

Its all a matter of personal taste. Like Honda vs Toyota, BMW vs Audi etc. I have 2 sammys (bed rooms) and 1 sony TV. The only reason I picked the XBR4(aside from price-got it dirt cheap back then) was the beautiful casing of the TV. If I had to buy again today, I'll probably get the sammy LED over the XBR8. You really can't go wrong with either one IMO.

I think that is one of the best comparisons. Personally, I would never buy a brand new Honda over a brand new Toyota, in my area Hondas are always $3-5K more for the same Toyota. I think both are great, although I would take Samsung over Sony because of price every time. PQ, when properly calibrated they both look great watching Blus.

All electronics have issues, and after being on this forum, I have heard horror stories from both MFGs.

what crazyBLUE said. I wouldn't rule out TOC displays based on looks alone. The red is not that noticable.

If i were you i'd look into Samsung's new 7 and 8 series LCD's.IMO the color quality is better than anything Sony currently has out(even XBR4 models). For the money you get alot more "bang for the buck" with the Samsung lcds as well.Even the 6 series lcds are nothing to scoff at and are VERY nice, but itn the end it's your eyes and your wallet that have to be happiest with whatever you buy.As long as you are satisfied with what you spent your hard earned money on, there's not much anyone else can say about the matter.
