Default 550 and Onkyo 606

I've got a setup in my livingroom:

Onkyo 606, HDMI output to the TV
BD-S505, HDMI to the receiver.

It's maybe a total newbie remark/question, but at every movie I press on the "DISPLAY" button on my BR it prompts "Dolby Digtal 3/2.1".

Now, is that 'normal' or is there some setting I didn't set? I've tried everything, but I'm not getting any Dolby Digital 5.1 (or something like that). Or doesn't the DISPLAY button have to say something like 5.1?

Thanks in advance for your time.

3/2.1 = 5.1

Thats what you should see. Now you should see multichannel pcm on the 606. If you see neo6 or anything like that you will get compressed pcm. If you use Direct it levels all the speakers to the same setting. I use the audessy to make sure I get the best sound for my ears. Good luck

that depends on what hes watching and how its set up. if hes bitstreaming the hd audio to his receiver then it will display true hd or dts ma, if hes having the player decode, then your right in what it should be displaying. but for all we know hes watching a dvd. his player wants to display 5.1 as 3/2.1. and to completely answer his question, its normal and his player wont display dd 5.1 since its programmed to display as 3/2.1. so nothing is wrong.
