Default Your thoughts on the swine flu outbreak?

A new mutation of the Flu has broken out in the Mexico city area. According to experts it is becoming a pandemic and a dangerous one, so far 60 people dead. I call it Captain's Trip cause that's what Stephen King called something similar in his book "The Stand".

Yep. Sorry I read it a long time ago and I forgot that kind of detail.
Point is, this one seems serious according to the news.

Yeah, I saw on the news and I was like; "S***!" Because you know sooner or later, an illegal immigrant is going to crossover the border with it and spread it around like the f***in' sex-TD that it is.

The flu isn't an STD?

Too late for that. It's already within the US. (Though the US cases have reportedly recovered).

It has gotten into the US and Canada via young people going on spring break vacations.

So far the cases here are very mild. Normal flu-like.

Post Your thoughts on the swine flu outbreak?

A bit of topic, and not sure where to post. But what's your thought's regarding this Flu virus going around? Should one be concerned?

Hi Xtop! how have things been for Ya?

At this time I think there has been no deaths in the usa however CNN mentioned that they have put out a Medical warning. A rumor is there shutting down federal buildings within the next 10 days and a possible chance of a mandatory lock down!

You know how it is here in the US. Crisis this, crisis that! No one opens with a joke anymore. I miss Danny DeVito.

There have been, what, 80 in Mexico? I don't think that it merits the level of panic that it's been given here so far, but I do suppose it is better to be proactive than reactive. It got to NYC via some students that took a Mexico trip - but I need to read more on the disease to see exactly how dangerous it is. Not that I have any children of my own (heck, I'm still a young'un myself) - but still best to be safe.

Recommendations to prevent infection by the virus consist of the standard personal precautions against influenza.

The previously recommended influenza vaccines for the southern and northern hemispheres, including that for the 2009/2010 flu season, are ineffective against the new strain.[56] The development, large-scale manufacturing, distribution and delivery of a new vaccine takes several months.[50]

This is just like any other epidemic, it'll get a lot of attention from the media just to make everyone panic. It'll go away in time. Just don't do anything stupid and everything will be fine.
