Am I the only one here thinking about being able to score with the hot chicks once everything settles down a bit ? hmm I guess Zombies and other such contaminated people would be a nuisance in my being with the hot defenseless chicks so Rob when all this happens you are in charge of killing all those zombies and I'll be in charge of "assisting" the helpless ladies.

This is just like any other epidemic, it'll get a lot of attention from the media just to make everyone panic. It'll go away in time. Just don't do anything stupid and everything will be fine.

At this time I think there has been no deaths in the usa however CNN mentioned that they have put out a Medical warning. A rumor is there shutting down federal buildings within the next 10 days and a possible chance of a mandatory lock down!

There have been, what, 80 in Mexico? I don't think that it merits the level of panic that it's been given here so far, but I do suppose it is better to be proactive than reactive. It got to NYC via some students that took a Mexico trip - but I need to read more on the disease to see exactly how dangerous it is. Not that I have any children of my own (heck, I'm still a young'un myself) - but still best to be safe.

I am worry too.I have two boys age 7, but so far there is no death in the US as yet more in Mexico.When it start moving to this area then I'll be worried.The closet to me is NY.

why is everyone always looking for the signs of the end? The world has been through much much worse than this. Another thing I find funny, is that people always associate things going wrong with America = end of the world. Nobody was calling it a crisis when the flu originated in Mexico. But as soon as it comes to America, oh noes, Jeebus is coming back, hide the porn! Just live your life as normal. I'm not going to live in fear, and neither should you.

Due to the nature of the virus, healthy young adults in their 20s are the most at risk. A healthy immune system becomes a liability rather than an asset. Hence why students are the most at risk, I would say.

Due to the virus causing "cytokine storms" - which basically turn your own immune system against you, attacking healthy organ tissue. So the stronger your immune system, the more danger you would be in.

This is not a "regular epidemic" as someone said previously.
Here are reasons you should be concerned:

This virus is a recombinant of Swine Flu, Avian flu, and Influenza A+B. The chances of this happening naturally are next to zero. This could very well be a bioweapon. I am not trying to fear monger here, but everyone should be concerned. It's probably already too late, but the borders should be closed until this is contained. The Spanish flu started out as mild cases that rapidly mutated into a killing machine, killing, I believe, about 600000 in the U.S. alone. Because of illegal immigration, and trade ties with Mexico, this thing has spread fast, and has probably been spreading for a while. I'm not sure about it's mode for killing-cytokine "storms" is most likely, but maybe not. That's how SARS killed. I encourage everyone to educate themselves, and even just plain proper handwashing can save lives. I'm not going to preach End Times to anyone, but this has some pretty scary patterns. The CDC has 6 stages for things like this, the final one being many outbreaks in many countries. It's not there yet, but in just a few days, this thing is supposedly in Mexico, the U.S., Canada, and now today I hear New Zealand and China.
Are you ready for Martial Law? Governments might implement such things to try and contain this. Forced vaccinations? Possible... even though it's impossible to develop one so soon, and it probably wouldn't be effective anyways. Keep an eye on things... I hope this fades away...
