I can understand that they want to push UHD, but its a shame the upgraded blu isn't released at the same time.

No Country For Old Men is already in AVC. There Will Be Blood is VC-1 so it would probably see more of an upgrade than the former.

True. They'll try anything to get more $$ out of us. Hope they didn't handicap the bluray version in anyway to add even more artificial incentive for the 4k version. I haven't seen any catalogue titles that this seemed to ever be the case which is good.

More $$$? I guess for people who have zero patience and need everything right away. Otherwise, just wait, and they will squeeze no more money out of you than you're willing to give. Pretty simple.

Tough to push UHD for titles that most people won't buy if they give you the lesser option that most people are happy with. When even blu-ray enthusiasts on this forum aren't interested in the UHD, that's a sure sign the format will fail.

.
Good guess . This is already happens where people pay more to get something early. In this case it would be "on time" really.

Paying more to get something early really isn't the same thing. It's usually a promotional thing that comes with posters, etc. But again, no one is forcing anyone to buy anything, so whatever money people spend is their own doing, not the studios or anyone else's.

Hopefully this will sell well and Warner will begin to do Eastwood's catalog some justice. Id love to see the Dirty Harry films + Pale Rider and The Outlaw Josey Wales get re-mastered 2K or 4K issues.....

No Country For Old Men Blu-ray already comes from a 4K Digital Intermediate.

There Will Be Blood was not scanned at 4K. It would definitely benefit from a remaster.

The BDs of Magnum Force, Sudden impact and The Outlaw Josey Wales are from 4K scans.

Nice! Love this movie. Now if we can get a decent remastered release of Tombstone with all the extras from the DVD collector's set I'll be happy.
