Onkyo 805 HDMI AUDIO help - Blu-ray Forum

I realize theres some thread on this already, but I just can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for..

My set up

Onkyo 805
Xbox 360
PS3
Tivo Series 3 Hd

The Xbox 360, ps3, and tivo are all plugged into the Onkyo via HDMI cables, and theres a HDMI running from the output to the tv. I'm confused on what exactly "HDMI Audio" does, it was set to off before, and i wasn't receiving surround output from the 360 or ps3, its now set to ON and it seems to be processing the hdmi audio inputs, if everything is HDMI it stands tor reason that this is the right setting. Correct?

When using your PS3, set the output to PCM. Your PS3 will be doing all the decoding(bitstream to PCM) so your 805 won't show TrueHD. Your 805 I believe should show 'Multi Ch' at least that's what my Integra 9.8 shows when receiving audio from my PS3. Don't have any of the other equipment so I can't comment.
