I was told no Pixar releases this year. Disney and Pixar needs to settle whatever legal disputes they are having.

at the end of the day it's the kids who suffer... and the adults who like animation

Yes, I haven't bought it on DVD because I was waiting for the BD of course. It didn't seem like a long time to wait when there was an original release date before. Now my little girl is missing out even longer. She saw it at a friends house & really liked it.

We're seeing the big problem with the format war right here - I can pull up Cars in hi def on Starz on demand. I've seen it twice already when it was playing on their regular HD channel. Plus I've got access to a dozen other movies not available in either disc format.

The format war is holding back adoption, while on demand services are gaining popularity.

Cars is so worth buying soon. Even the full screen movie put in widescreen is awesome. It sucks that its not coming out till next year, hopefully. I'll definitely be on the pre-order list for this one.

According to what I read online, Capek said that the title was delayed due to Pixar's actual involvement in the BD creation process, AFTER they found out what BD can do.

So initially it was set then Pixar said it can do it better. And I think it's still slated to be this year. The promo for it will definitely be a BD exclusive promo.

well accroding to here https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=187 at the bottom it says this:

"Also revealed by Disney at the event, was that the Pixar film 'Cars' would be delayed to September due to Pixar's high level of participation on the title. Additionally, they announced that no catalog animation titles would be released in 2007 as they wait for hardware penetration to gain a better footing."
