Why the hell is this movie not in scope? EVERY other Planet of the Apes movie has been.

I watched this last night for the first time and I was a little disappointed by the film after the great reviews. I loved Rise..., which had a far more epic feel, a more engaging story with was like three films in one (1st act: mad scientist, 2nd act: prison film, 3rd act: war) and the characterisation was much stronger throughout.

The human characters here were the most boring imaginable and the plot was predictable and full of action movie cliches. Cesar is still a great character, but he gets far less to do here. It's not a bad film, just a letdown after the first one. Maybe it will grow on me with another watch.

Also:
[Show spoiler]Why did they take the trigger-happy idiot along for the trip to ask the apes for access to the dam ? That could only go horribly wrong !!!!

I was disappointed when I watched it the first time at the movie theatre. I think is was mainly due to how much hype there was for the film I expected a more action packed story and what-not. Anyway, I just watched it again last night, the hype having died down and I loved every minute of it. Maybe because it had a George Orwell Animal Farm undertone I missed the first time around, but I picked that up as I watched the film the second time and was amazed at how smartly written it was. That's just me, though.

Also,
[Show spoiler]I guess it was an excuse BUT they did say the trigger-happy idiot was the only one who knew how the dam worked

I was wondering the same thing. Fox also did this with A Good Day To Die Hard. Maybe they are thinking about large screen formats (IMAX, ETX, XD) that are not set up for scope (i.e. no screen masking, just a letterboxing effect), but who knows...

As a 3D fan, I'm actually glad this one went 1.85:1, but yeah, it's still a strange difference from the rest of the series.

I just got mine today from foxconnect. The slipcover material is that soft material like the first one. Any idea how to get the stickers off without damaging the slip?

Can someone verify that the Target in-store ad listed the 3D blu ray as $19.99 because I went to the store and it had a price of $24.99.

Is everybody else's actual case ugly black plastic? Was this done to match the black slipcover? Or, are they starting to cut corners on blu ray cases and not making them blue tinted plastic anymore?

Some pretty good 3d shots but overall just okay/decent 3d. Nothing I'll need to have to watch in 3d so most of my future viewings will be in 2d.

I like the black case. Wish the first one was black as well.

For you slip cover hounds out there: Beware buying the 3D version from Target. There are two stickers on the slip that will not come off completely.

I tried using some Goo Gone on mine and it took the texture and color off the slip.

It's now an OCD nightmare for me because even if i threw away the slip the insert does not line up the name on the spine; it's incredibly off-center (but that's my nightmare to live with).

They all have those stickers on them, even mine from Fox connect did.

I ended up using Goo Gone and then wiping with three different wet paper towels to make sure there was no residue left.

I assume right now, you are left with the lighter color where the Goo Gone residue remains. Trust me, grab a wet paper towel and wipe it off, when it dries you won't be able to see it anymore. (You might have to use some pressure)

(For Rise, I accidentally used the Goo Gone Gel. It completely removed that soft touch finish and exposed the silver underneath. Yikes!)
