Default little audio help

i have the yamaha HTR 5890 reciever and enjoy the d+plIIx audio for 7.1, my only problem is that whenever a movie starts the sound field usually changes to "surround enhanced" and i lose the 7.1. is this normal, it feels to me like the reciever is set to auto yet i cannot find a menu to turn any setting such as that off. anyone out there also using this reciever?

From the looks of your list of components you are using the ps3 as your blu-ray player. And the Yamaha reciever does not have HDMI input. Therefore you must be using the optical (toslink) cable to run sound from the ps3 to the receiver. This will not transfer 7.1 sound, only PCM 2channel.

Or 5.1 bitstream in either DD or DTS (if your receiver is DTS compatible).

I've been using Yamaha recievers for years. Apparently when a multi channel source starts, you have it set to switch to a DSP mode. Simply press Standard Surround on the remote and it should fix it. Then if you want, press the Ext Surround button and turn it to Pro-Logic IIx. That way it will take the 5.1 source and make it 7.1. Hope that helps (and works).
