ps3 problem or equipment problem?

I have seen complaints on sound cutting off and causing speakers to make a poping niose. Ive experienced this frequently on two games and those are condemned (about once every minute or so) and in half life 2 from the orange box (continuous static type noise) and some other games just every once in a while. It also does this during the ps3 first loading up. I am connected through hdmi on a 7.1 setup with a reciever capable of uncompressed sound. (denon 2807) can this issue be fixed in the setting or can you recommned what settings the be.

I have the same problem. Did it start when you updated to 2.4

I meant 2.4 in my first post..

Anyways, I happened a few times before 2.4, but now it happens rather often. Turning the PS3 off and on using the back switch usually solves the problem, but not always.

well yeah its been happening before that and I just bought the orange box and when I play half life it makes that noise and im worried it might damage my speakers
