Default TRANSFORMERS Take 2

I'm a huge transfan and am very excited about the bd however with TF2 arriving
on 6-20ish-09 i have to wonder if it will be doubble dipped sooner rather than later. If i knew absolutely it would get a re-re mastered tru blu ed. i'd wait til next year. What do you think will they just push the old dvd and blu versions or
come up with a 100% new bd while pushing the old dvd?

Would you buy both if that's what happened or just the sept release?
I don't care about extra's just absolute PQ / AQ. I'd prefer DTS HDMA 7.1
and 1080 p is going to be 1080p. If it releases with dthd i'd consider waiting
and betting on a better version later.
Currently i'm doing this with Narnia because when prience caspian arrives on blu it's likely the extended cut of narnia will be on blu and anyone who bought it back in may will have to trade up or stay with the theatrical cut.
Back on dvd i waited until sony released their stuff in superbit otherwise i didn't buy it....even if it came 1-2 years later.

I'm not too worried at this point, I have to get it when it comes out in september though regardless.

Isn't the one coming in September already a remaster? I heard it was re-encoded just for Blu-ray specs. Not to mention the Dolby TrueHD track. I highly doubt one that may or may not come out later will be a significant difference. Also, the one in September is loaded with special features. Just my .02 though.

Since I already own it on HD, I will not be rebuying it, unless it's True HD, I don't believe the HD one I have is True HD.

Transformers on HD-DVD does not have high-res audio tracks, there wasn't enough space. It only has Dolby Digital-Pus 5.1 Surround.

It seems like Paramount has adopted Dolby True HD as their high resolution audio codec. Thus, it is unlikely that you will see a DTS HD MA track on a re-release of Transformers.

A movie like transformers deserves a DTS hd track but I guess the dolby truehd will have to do...

I felt the same. In fact the worst PQ Blu-ray I own (The Prestige) IMHO beat the crap out of the Transformers HD DUD release. Here's hoping for something A LOT better.

P.S. I do like the Prestige but the PQ on the Warner Blu-ray we got here in the UK was low bit-rate VC1 garbage.

What's wrong with Dolby TrueHD? I haven't heard a poor one yet from Paramount, and it also MIGHT have PCM on it.

the PQ stays exactly the same. Only the sound has been remastered to True HD. Since the DD+ Sountrack was very, very good I am sure as hell won't rebuy this title.

The BD is getting an optimized video encode so video will NOT be exactly the same.

Default New audio and video

The Blu-Ray edition of transformers (released sept. 2) will have both a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD track and a 5.1 Uncompressed PCM track. There will also be a new video transfer (different from the HD DVD version) as confirmed by Michael Bay. This will definitely be a Sept. 2 buy for me.

I just watched the HD-DVD on a 1080p TV. Trust me, there can't be a better transfer than the one that already exists. Only Soundwise it might be interesting. But, as I said, the DD+ Track already rocks

I also own the HD DVD version and there are definitely a few scenes that will benefit from a new video transfer. As far as the audio goes. the DD+ track sounds great, but the lossless tracks will sound 100% better (with the right setup).

I found this post from one of the many Transformers threads there is

Quote:
"Because of Blu-ray's expanded capacity, we are able to elevate the bit rate used for the picture as well as present uncompressed audio in the form of Dolby True HD," said Rob Moore, vice chairman of Paramount Pictures.

I had the HD DVD... and there was NOTHING wrong with the picture. Could it have looked better? Probably! Could it look FAR superior? Probably not.

I find it hard to belive that the Blu-ray version will look any better then the HD DVD version. On my tv the pq was outstanding, maybe the sound could get better, but not the video, I don't care how they transfer it.
