I use audio as the guide to whether or not double-dip, just as much as I use video..... but audio, over-all, is the more important to me than video, but people don't realize there are some GREAT 5.1 tracks out there! |

And the second bolding applies to me as well. I got into home theater for audio, not for video! |

I got into home theater for video originally, but have I ever seen the error of my ways! Anyways, while I would prefer a lossless track, there are other factors that go into whether or not I purchase a movie (WFA anyone, or in my case fiance.) But I agree with this topic as a whole, Warner needs to step it up already.

I'm still hoping that the New Line titles will have DTS MA on their releases and in full 7.1 audio. New Line was just knocking quality releases out of the park, one after another.

Neo's point was that it is nice to have lossless audio but since we where willing to watch movies on DVD before and they where not lossless we should not demand it but be happy when we get it. My point was that tech has always improved and there is no reason not to demand it and move forward to it. I am not saying that there where no good movies in the 1920's or 30's or 40's or 50's or 60's or 70's or 80's or 90's but do you think studios and distribution should be limited to the tech that was available in the 20's or 30's or..... Let me ask you this, do you think 20 million miles to earth looks good with cool effects for the 50's? do you thin if a movie was made today with the same FX that people would say "Wow" or "Low budget kitsch". How many silent movies are made today? And do you think someone could make a silent movie (real one with people in them and card boards popping up with their words in text and not movies (shorts) with little to no dialog, so there is nothing to say) today and it would be a block buster? |

I'm just thoroughly pissed that Warner's in their infinate wisdom didn't encode 'Sea Monsters' an IMAX release with lossless audio, it also doesn't appear that WB will do likewise for it's other IMAX blurays in the near future, I hope they can rectify that.

I think it's time for people to quit whining and just see what Warner actually has to offer in the next couple months. Until then, everyone is just complaining about releases that have happened and wont get fixed. In other words, complaining for no reason. |

The problems with WB are mainly lack of "lossless" audio and problems from the master stage... and not really from the encoding stage. ~Alan |

![]() But the reason the whining is getting to me is because Warner has said they're listening to us, and pretty much came out and said all titles will have Dolby TrueHD. But these things take a little time to really get going. You can't just go "oh, this title is supposed to come out in a month, it will now have Dolby TrueHD on it." It's more like "well, we've created and manufactured these discs with Dolby Digital for HD DVD before the format war was over, lets put them out anyway." |

Why, Why, Why, Why, Why WB? I own all of the Superman movies that are currently available on Blu and I've noticed that they fall short of some of my better blus. Warners is capable of better. I know they are. I have the Blade Runner collection! Please re-release these with higher bitrates! I'll buy!

The Shawshank Redemption - Dolby Digital 5.1? Note that two titles above have no audio listed, but rather "?" by them. These titles are titles I could not find tech specs for the audio on. Also note that on the above list, several titles with "lossy" have "?" by them. These titles are titles where we don't know whether they will be receiving a "lossless" track or not. Though some have had rear artwork released showing a "lossy" soundtrack... well, we all know what happened with "The Perfect Storm" and "Blow" do we not? The point is, WB is getting better in regards to "lossless", but if you're favorite movie is released in the meantime while they are working their problems out, it doesn't mean as much. That being said, I can deal with it for now, but I don't have as much hope in them straightening out their PQ issues as quickly... ~Alan Last edited by Alan Gordon; 07-24-2008 at 12:30 AM.
