Default Warner Brothers Blunders

I know we all want Warner Brother's to be blu exclusive and seeing their blunders this week, 3 that I have heard of (Terminator, Blade Runner and Harry Potter) is kind of scary. Hopefully if they can pull it together by going one format exclusive in the new year.

Can't get it perfect everytime, but 3 in a week, yikes.

Maybe these "Blunders" are screaming to Warner that there should only be one format!

Adding that with most of their poor transfers and we have some issues. When warner becomes exclusive, they will need to step up their game!

No doubt about that either, more PCM or Dolby TrueHD!

yeah, yeah, yeah

these "blunders" are totally misrepresented and blown out of proportion, then exploited by HD DVD fanatics to make it seem like product is defective. I've started a poll to see how many of us who have the Blade Runner BD set actually has a problem. So far only one out of 15 has reported an issue. To read reports on the net, you'd think every other BD set has the problem.

I also bought the Potter box. No problem there either.

Seriously? That is retarded. All this shows is that WB has some quality control problems, it has nothing to do with the format.

Anyone know if WB have had problems with any HDDVD?? or is it just Blu-Ray?? I read on a "Pro" HDDVD website and they were saying that HDDVD code is easier for developers to write then blu-ray, stateing that HDDVD was better. Obviously their just trying to find anything to debate with, but I'm begining to worry about all these errors lately

Putting the wrong bloody disc in the box is not a programming issue...

Well, the HP thing was a production mistake. It can't be pointed directly at BD. It was a mistake by whomever or whatever did the packaging. And if HD-DVD's ended up in BD cases, it is only reasonable to assume the same happened to the HD-DVD side also.

And if WB is willing to fix THEIR mistakes, then whose to complain? It would be different if they were denying the claims, but to turn around so quickly and offer a solution, is IMO a great commitment by WB to its consumers.

Absurd. This is a quality control problem within their production pipeline and would never lead to an intelligent business decision about their future in HD Media. Come on now!

I'm guessing a lot of these blunders are just the result of having to support two different formats. Resources and time spread about and things start slipping through the cracks - especially given they probably rushed to get all of these titles out before Christmas.

I am assuming that these are indeed honest mistakes and not some small group of pro-HD DVD employees trying to hurt BD for WB. I seriously doubt that would be the case, and I think they should be fired if it is.

Either way, I feel that due to the lack quality control here, I feel that we all deserve an official apology from Warner Brother regarding this. So many bad things in 1 week really hurts the image of WB and Blu-ray. ANd yet nothing for HD DVD has been reported (that I heard of).
This is ridiculous and we deserve some kind of official apology and promise that they will step up their game.

I have to say that the Blade Runner release is phenomenal. Fantastic picture and sound. Of course all my discs are correct, but I got this for $35 at Best Buy. That is the regular price of Fox movies and this release is as good as it gets. I suppose they have issues with how they manufacture as they had problems with last year's Superman boxed set on DVD. I also really dislike how many movies do not get lossless sound (Terminator 3 for example). I am quite sure the mixed up discs are not intentional, and I am sure they will get it on track. Hopefully they see the interest in their movies from this camp as positive and decide this is the best format to release movies on. One thing I really, really liked was how some of their movies just start playing without a menu or previews.

So I suppose I am just saying to hold your breath and let them know in a polite way that we love their movies and hopefully will decide this format is best for them. If they choose this format, it may be easier to include lossless sound on all of the releases and will lessen development issues. I just got a player about two months ago, and when the Christmas season is over I will have over 50 Blu-ray movies and over half of them are Warner films.

I need to get my mind on something else for a moment:

does anyone want to sell their defective T3 disc? I didn't care for the movie but i'd be willing to buy it for cheap just to complete the set.

Here's how you breakdown the errors from the past week:

1. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire HD DVD instead of Blu-ray in collector's set. -- Packaging Error at disc manufacturing plant.

2. Blade Runner Work Print disc is Final Cut. -- Someone screwed up labelling of a spool of finished discs, and it was sent through the wrong paint line at the manufacturing plant.

3. Terminator 3 is 1080i instead of 1080p as listed on packaging. -- Warner QC department f'ed up.

it's not just the HP boxset. I bought the individual edition of HP:GOF and it didn't load at all in my PS3. It just kept on spinning and spinning. I called WHV today and they are sending a replacement disc. I'm glad they are helping me out on this one.

It's obvious that a HD DVD Fanboy programmed the sorting machine.

I wouldn't brush this off so quickly. Warner Home Video has had a string of these screw ups for over a year and half--the Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD Set, the Kubrick Blu-rays, the Harry Potter Blu-ray, Terminator 3 Blu-ray, Blade Runner Blu-ray. Warner has done a good job with the replacement programs, but if I'm a studio executive I'm not happy about the pattern I'm seeing.
