Default PS3 Sound Issue

Hello,

I have a 40GB PS3 connected to a Sony STR DG-720 receiver via HDMI. The video is perfect, however, there is no sound. I've tried many different settings on both pieces: manually checking all audio formats on the PS3, picking LPCM and not Bitstream, picking PCM Auto on the receiver... I even tried connecting an optical cable for audio without any success. Nothing seems to work. Do I have the incorrect settings on here? Does anyone on the forum have the same setup that works who can give me insight as to how they configured BOTH pieces of equipment? Any input would greatly be appreciated.

Does it work if you use the L-R analog cables that come with the PS3?

And just to make sure you ARE setting it to use HDMI for audio right?

Check if your receiver has the option HDMI pass through (mine has).
If you have this option on, you have no sound. Turn it off.
