Default No Country for Old Men?

Hi folks,

I watched this on Blu Ray the other night. Maybe i was expecting to much after the oscars etc but i wasnt blown away by the film or the transfer. Ok it was good, but i didnt find anything exceptional about it.

Anyone else think the film wasnt as good as they expected it would be?

Cheers,
Mick

Yeah I thought There Will Be Blood was waaaaaay better. I understand No Country For Old Men about the evil men do and how pointless it is, and how scary, and comical, and the satire of it and stuff. But There Will Be Blood had so much more of all this material on a better more interesting level in my opinion. I dont think No Country should have won best picture.

Yeah I thought it was blah. I did a blind buy watched it one time and traded it. The same for 3:10 to yuma and blade runner both sucked.

at least its not just me then.. i guess if heard nothing about the film and watched it i may have been more impressed.. but when something is hyped up you set your expectations that much higher.. i did like Javier Bardems performance though

You should watch Blade Runner again. It gets better with multiple viewings.

Whats this Blue Ray you speak of? Sorry, just drives me nuts to see people add the "e" at the end. I just bought that Nyko Blu Wave remote for my PS3 and there was a sticker on it that said "Works Great on Blue Ray players"

NCFOM is one of those movies that people are really divided over.

I love it.

I thought No Country for Old Men was a fantastic movie. There will be blood was good but am I really supposed to love a movie based off of one man's acting abilities. Daniel Day definitely gave a better performance than in Gangs of New York but still I was left expecting more. Other than the somewhat ambigious ending of No Country for Old Men, it is one of my favorites. I just have to be in the mood to watch it.

Exactly. I mean, all you have to do is look at the name on the border at the top of the web page.

But on topic, I did enjoy TWBB, especially Daniel Day Lewis' performance, but I enjoyed NCFOM just a bit more.

And whoever said Blade Runner sucks needs to see it again.

my god who would have thought the addition of an 'e' would cause such a fuss

Well, by adding an "e" you are completely changing the meaning. We know what you mean, but it is a different word.

eh - hang on a sec? why is it called Blu-Ray in the first place? is it due to the colour of the laser being used to read the disc being BLUE

how is using Blue Ray as opposed to Blu Ray completely changing the meaning?

is Blu an actual word or abbreviation?

Mental note: don't go off of any movie impressions from this guy.

Seriously, I can understand that No Country For Old Men is not for everyone- it doesn't follow the Hollywood traditions. But 3:10 to Yuma and Blade Runner "both sucked"?!? Those are two of my favorite Blu-Rays and I love both those movies. I also liked No Country though at first it put me off a little bit.

In addition, these 3 movies all have great transfers, with 3:10 being the weakest in the "wow" category.

Yes the laser is blue. The name of the format is blu-ray. To say that "blu-ray" is not a word, is like saying that "Mac" is not a word.

Blu-ray is the name of the format.

agreed but i think its a bit of a stretch to say that adding an 'e' changed the meaning completely... i think remarks like that is what put off some people from joining and contributing to forums like this..

Oh well.

Then they should spell blu-ray with an 'e'.

Come on I was laughing my ass off at the end of 3:10 how stupid of a ending. The movie started good then it was a down fall. Did the writers strike happen half way through or what. And bladerunner was over hyped on here so I rented it and was bored out of my mind. Its just not my type of movie.
