Default panasonic dmp-bd10ak

i am having problems with my player processing dts-hd master audio. i know it strips it down to the dts-hd version. but this usually works fine. when i put in the mummy returns disc the sound was awful!! i had to turn the volume way down because it was distorting. i have the dts-hd setting to pcm because my receiver can't process it onboard. i am using hdmi cables. any help would be appreciated.

I'm a bit confused... if you "bitstream" either DTS-HD HR or DTS-HD MA from the Pany BD10a, all you'll be bitstreaming is standard DTS. The Panny BD10a can't bitstream any of the advanced codecs. Your receiver should handle the DTS core fine.

Also, a DTS-HD MA track may be able to be "read" as DTS HD by your player, but neither the HR nor 24/96 extensions exist, so all its actually decoding is standard DTS within the DTS HD MA file. Many players report DTS HD as that is the file format they are reading, but without being able to handle the extensions, that HD is meaningless.

Try changing the setting to bitstream for that title... it will bitstream the DTS core, and hopefully won't encounter issues decoding in your receiver.

Hope that helps.
