Default The Mummy 3 - Reviews and Reactions

Well, I WAS looking forward to seeing this, but I have been seeing some NASTY reviews for this. Rotten Tomatoes has this currently scored at 0:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/mumm...ragon_emperor/

Hopefully, it's not all that bad. I do however, believe that it will not replace Dark Knight at the number 1 position.

My favorite

What's with outsourcing mummies to China? Do the undead work for lower wages there?

Yeah, and what's with the Yetis? Just cause you CAN do CGI Yetis, doesn't mean you should...

The hell with the critics! they seem to hate almost every big blockbuster films like this. With that said, I will wait for the Bluray release.

I know I'll be seeing it (I already have my tickets). The fact is as bad as this is being made out to be, surely it can't be THAT bad.

I really didn't like the first two Mummy movies. The one critic saying this makes 1 and 2 look like Godfather 1 and 2 actually rises my expectations

Damn, I was hoping this would be good. Oh well, I rarely listen to critics and reviews anyway as before they have been waaaay off base. Hope this is good.

Paid another visit to RT and saw that two new reviews are posted for a total of 7. All of them are bad. I am looking forward to the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince trailer that premieres with that movie. Surely by Friday, someone will have something nice to say about it.

Anyone else going?

i'll probably go at some point. negative reviews don't phase me at all. the critics have trashed i want to believe, but i still went. thankfully, for me, they got it wrong. it's absolutely rare that critics agree with me on movies. i remember when siskel and ebert gave speed 2 - cruise control two big thumbs up. they were raving about sandra bullocks' character. i was so surprised to see them like a movie like that. but yeah, i'll see mummy 3. i've seen the first two and this one doesn't look that bad.

Brief off topic question...So you weren't at all disappointed in the movie? I ask this cause my wife and I are huge X-Files fans and we were disappointed with it.

now? no, not all. i am actually dying to see it again. i think at first i might have been a little disappointed due to the fact that i was expecting something else from what the trailers suggested, but since i've had time to let it all sink in i've had more time to reflect on it and i really do like it. are there some flaws? sure, but i think it deftly handles the material, the characters, and the original shows' source really. i wrote up a rather long review elsewhere that i won't bore anyone here with.

but i will get the main point across. i found that i like this movie a lot, and i mean a lot, because of the fact that it is a quiet smaller film. in a summer filled with bombastic movies this is different and it's not hollywood. i just thought it was completely refreshing and layered and a welcome respite from the hype and bombast of many summer films out this year. but i am also a huge x-files fan and even the dullest of episodes worked for me due to the cast and the chemistry.

Thanks for the info. Maybe a second viewing would be necessary. Granted, I think we were expecting some alien conspiracy type of story or something darker, but you're right, it is a quieter movie than most.

I gotta wonder now -- is Mummy 3 gonna be worse than Catwoman? Or dare I say, Gigli? The last RT score is still 0, with 12 reviews posted.

Catwoman is one of the worst movies, I never got to finish seeing it. Mummy 3 will be better.

One of the reviewers said that the intended audience is comparative to a cat and the movie is a ball of yarn meant to entertain said cat. Now THAT's insulting. Surely Gypsy, Crow and Tom Servo ain't busy. Sounds like me and my friends will be alone in the theatre watching this.

I like how there are all these reviewers out there these days telling everyone how they felt about the movie.

Anyone else find that odd? Sure some movies universally bomb. Then there are movies that do not appeal to everyone.

Rotten tomatoes score for the mummy movies is 53% for the Mummy and 47% or so for Returns. Go figure. Expect 34% or middle of the road for dragon.

The wife and I and some friends are going Saturday morning. Looks like a good action packed popcorn movie. I know I'll enjoy it way more than Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SKUNK. Plus I got my free tickets when I bought the 2 Mummy movies on Bluray. I got nothing to lose.

It's because people see that the score is a zero and just add more zeros on top of it because they want to see the score that low for hilarity purposes. They don't all truly think it's a zero. I do not put any stock into RT scores this early.

If the movie is bad it will be a zero for a week, if the movie is great it will be a 100 start off with. You won't find it's true score until a larger sample of people have submitted reviews.
