Default Will this work good?

The onkyo 606 with the klipsch RF 52 5.1 set up? Is that too much speaker for the receiver? I don't want to blow anything up. Also I heard that the klipsch sub is crap is that true?

Thanks

Those speakers will be fine with that receiver.....

as far as the sub goes.... I'm not a fan of Klipsch in general, so my opinion on things probably won't help you much

It's fine bro.

You really only get into concepts like too much speaker when you are dealing with musical applications. For instance, a 15 watt class A/B tube amp head will not get great distortion out of a 300 watt speaker cabinet with neodimium speakers in it. It will be too clean.

For your needs, you wanna worry about things like having a 700 watt (solid state) receiver running into 30 watt speakers and cranking them.

THAT....will blow your speakers.

If anything...right now...your Onkyo will just not drive your bigs ass speaker as hard as it should.

Short answer...you are fine.

I had a Klipsch sub for a while and I thought it was pretty good. It didn't go that deep though. Then I got an SVS and realized what I was missing. I gave the Klipsch away the next week after I realized how much worse it was than the SVS.

That's a fine setup, and it's what I currently have except I'm using a Yamaha RX-V 563 atm. The onkyo will power the speakers. As far as subs go, you can get better for your money than Klipsch, at least when I listened to them that's what I felt. I went with a Def-Tech Supercube 1, howerver there are a lot cheaper options from ID companies.
