Default Does Lucas have anything to say on StarWars Blu?

I am so sorry if that has already been asked, I am sure Star Wars is a hot topic in the blu debate.

I wondered, since 20th Century Fox got the distributing rights for Star Wars (they do right?)

well,... I can only come the conclusion that they dont. If they released it, it would end the war right now - so, I can only assume Lucas has the final say in this, and he is a jerk not to say, go blu now?

It took Lucas years to commit to DVD. I wonder if we have to wait longer for Blu-ray. Hopefully he will release them to support the new animated series coming out next year.

however, he was very quick to release on laserdisc. i think the late dvd decision was partly due to his folly with LD. now i think he relalizes he took way too long with DVD. Id expect SW out xmas 08. Pay about 150 bucks for all 6 movies, the perfect gift!

Ok, I'm sick of hearing about Star Wars, so let's get this out of the way right now: STAR WARS WILL NOT BE COMING TO BLU-RAY FOR A LONG TIME, we're talking years. Lucas has absolute control over these movies. All Fox does is distribute. The first time Lucas released a Star Wars movie on DVD was Episode I in 2001, which was 3 years after DVD came out. Personally, I think that Star Wars is the most overrated franchise in movie history and could care less when these movies reach Blu-ray. It seems that Lucas and Spielberg like to remind us that they own most of Hollywood and so that's why they make us wait forever for their movies.

ELLIPSIS if you feel that strongly against Star Wars why even reply?

Lucas will release them once he feels it's time to release them. (When he can make the most money)
I see them only coming to Blu-ray since it's a Fox title.

Episode came out in 1999. It was 2 years after the movie hit the theaters. however, aside from that if you are even remotely a fan of blu-ray you would be more than excited for this movie to hit the shelves, even though you hate it. Star Wars will sell players like no other movie in my opinion, as well as software. Im assuming exclusivity. I hate LOTR, think its boring and bad, however would be very happy to see it on blu, because tons of ppl love it, just like star wars and thats what sells. In other words, grow up, just cause you don't like the movie doesn't mean others don't, and that it wouldn't be great news for blu.

Wether or not you feel these movies are overrated, if you support BD as the one and only HD Media Format you should want these movies. Because the people who feel the opposite you do, that is to the say, the people who love these movies, are some of the most hardcore and devoted fans ever and a release exclusively on the BD Format will literally end HD-DVD with one fell swoop.

I've said it before, Lucas could release these movies on his own format with his own player made only to play these discs, wrap them in a paper bag, and they would outsell both HD formats.

while I agree that star wars is overrated....I still want the older movies as I do like them...

I don't froth at the mouth over them or anything...but you have to realize that the older movies revolutionized movies in the late 70's and changed the way they were made from a technological standpoint and all of that....

it's a cult classic...and while I agree it's overrated, there's no reason to get your panties in a bunch over it....let people like what they want...

I think the Matrix trilogy is overrated...but people like that as well....this is why they created vanilla and chocolate...2 opposite flavors....and then they made more flavors..

I'm starting to think we have a better chance at seeing lightsaber technology before we see Star Wars on Blu.

no, it would end it...

Lucas thinks he needs to see more players on the market to sell more...but he would pretty much be the reason ALOT of people buy a BD player...

I guess Sony would have to throw him a serious chunk of money to get him to put his movies out...

and while him not releasing the series on BD will not have a negative impact on the format war, it would definately end it immediately and we'd see a whole bunch more trolls here...

I'd love to have all 6 Star Wars movies packed together on BD, that would be awesome. Although I detested Episode I and the prequels got better up to Ep. III. The orginal IV,V and VI are by far the best.

IMO Star Wars cannot come even close to touching Lord of the Rings though.

No. Lucasfilm ltd have the distrubuting rights for Star Wars.

That right it is George Lucas's decision and Lucasfilm LTD company not 20th Century Fox.

Cool

I'd be happy with the original 3, but I've seen them way too many times to get excited over a bluray release. Definitely would strengthen our format though...

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. This is the best Star Wars flick. Unlike some of the others (perhaps), this one is not overrated. Great movie. And it will so terribly suck to be an HD DVD supporter if this one ever gets on as a BD exclusive. Most high def junkies are just salivating over the possibility, and these movies as BD exclusives would be the tipping point for even the most stubborn of HD DVD owners.

First of all, the first Star Wars movie released on DVD was Episode I, so please get your facts straight. Second, if you had any faith in Blu-ray and didn't have your head in the sand, you would know that Blu-ray has already won and there is no way HD DUD can ever catch up. In other words, grow up; just because you like certain movies doesn't mean everyone else has to agree with you or get insulted
