Yeah really do some research and to boot the events in Casino were alot closer to what really happened than American Gangster was. Only thing that Casino changed were the names of the characters in the movie. Ridley messed up alot, didn't even get the time period right as well

A lot of holes in the desert, and a lot of problems are buried in those holes. But you gotta do it right. I mean, you gotta have the hole already dug before you show up with a package in the trunk. Excuse me (although I'm not a fan of gangster movies) - American Gangster is based on a true story - its not supposed to feel "Mafia". If you want the "Mafia" check out some Italian stuff - that's the Old World "Mafia". The Mexican Mafia doesn't function like the Italians - nor does the Russian Mafia. Cultural differences.

P.S. I don't think you would have said that to Frank Lucas "black mafia hahaah" - don't think you would've said it at all.

For the record...American Gangster was never claimed to be a mafia based movie. It's a movie about organized crime which is similar to what the mafia was. Scarface as well. Many people have this misconception that these movies are "mafia" movies. If you want to learn about the movie read a book called "wise guys" which is what Goodfellas is based off of - OR - catch INSIDE THE MAFIA. It's a 3 or 4 part documentary narrated by ray liota on NGC.

I already own Casino on DVD, but I must buy it on Blu because it's one of my favorite movies. Sam Rothstein ran that casino like a pimp!

I gotta buy American Gangster too because it's a really good movie and Denzel was amazing in the role of Frank Lucas.

There is a clear difference between gangster and mafia. The titles are gangster movies. If you want Mafia on Blu then buy Goodfellas. And IMO everyone should buy the Godfather restoration because they restored each individual frame you really can't ask for much more.

Denzel was the biggest problem I had with American Gangster..... actually it was the other characters that carried his marginally-talented ass in "Fallen" come to think of it..... I do have the HD DVD of American Gangster, because it's still a pretty good movie..... but not because of Denzel's acting, that's for sure.... it was a good story.

I have liked pretty much all of Denzel's movies. He is one of the only really good actors left in my opinion. He is top 5 anyway right there with De Niro, Pacino, Bogart, Hopkins.
