Default Avengers: Age of Ultron extended version?

Just saw this post on another site. Do you think that Disney will finally put out a Blu-ray of a Marvel movie with some actual substance on it?

I don't think here is an extended edition, in the latest interview, Joss said that all the footage was going to be avaliable as deleted scenes, but only as standalones and not part of the movie, so they can only be viewed by themselves.

I must be the only person who actually likes the majority of the theatrical releases around. Not a big fan of extended versions and neither do I watch the deleted scenes if ever made available.

A shame though that it's not going to be included in the movie. Watching deleted scenes is quite the chore.

A shame, but expected. Marvel have never done an extended version and I don't think they have any interest in doing so. Wish they would think about it this time though, since the movie is getting pretty steadily criticized for issues related to editing and too much going on in too short a time.

Define Blu-Ray with actual substance on it.

It depends as EE tend to mean there is more character development in the movie. Aliens, Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, Legend, American Gangster, DareDevil, Spider-Man 2, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, etc, all prove this.

If a fan really wants to they can always rip the movie and the deleted scenes, figure out where the latter goes into the former, and create an extended cut. I'd be surprised if this movie had one, but I won't get to see it til Thursday night

An EE, if it happened, feels like something they might hold onto for the Phase II boxset as a way of incentivizing fans to re-buy...

I ve watched the extra content on the Marvel films ...ONCE.

Granted the Shield specials and the Tony Stark in The Hulk deleted scene are a nice plus, they hardly come to mind when I pop in the BD.

Maybe the Phase 2 box set will have the extended versions of some of these films. I personally am eagerly awaiting the extended or original cut (pre-reshoots) of Thor: The Dark World, I would watch a four hour Winter Soldier as well, if such a thing existed.

Generally as a rule of thumb Theatrical > Directors for me also. This is probably true for everything but the Final Cut of Blade Runner.

That said, you can really really tell that Whedon had to take an axe to AOU with characters dropping out of the film for long stretches and the way the film leaps from one unfinished strand to the next. I would really like to see the proper complete version and see if that perhaps irons out the films problems because it's pretty clear that 90% of the films problems were Disney Producer Mandated.

I would say I usually enjoy extended cuts more. I like the added character moments and I miss them when they're gone. That said there are exceptions, like Dances with Wolves, which really needs to have its theatrical cut on BD in the US.

Sometimes I like an extended cut overall but really wish a scene or two was not added. Aliens for example, I like the Ripley's daughter stuff and added action beats, but that early look at the functioning colony is terrible.

I mean a Marvel Blu-ray ANYWHERE close to the amount of supplemental material we got on iron Man 1 + 2.

Default Avengers: Age of Ultron Extended Cut

From The Digital Bits:

The Telegraph is reporting that Amazon.co.uk has let slip to its customers that Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is getting an extended cut with an alternate ending on the eventual Blu-ray and DVD release of the film later this year.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/f...ng-on-DVD.html

Can't wait for it to come to the theater tomorrow

Amazon UK already sent out a notice saying that they were misinformed. As of now there is no plans for one. Especially since Whedon said there wouldn't be one.

Wait, I thought Whedon said there WOULD be one. At the very least I hope/expect the deleted scenes will be on the Blu-ray, but an extended cut would be interesting.

2hrs 21mins is hardly "pushing 3 hours" since that also includes the likely 10 minutes of credits.
