I'm not sure yet, but none will have the number 1 in the model name, I will hold off for the second or third generation.

I've got the Samsung preordered. As long as it isn't a Sony brand player, I'm good.

I had originally wanted the Pioneer but the price and the delay have made me give up on it. I'll probably buy the Samsung and then sell it when the Sony comes out.

If the delay means no bugs in the Pioneer unit, I'm all for it as I've been before. The elite line has got me....maybe since I am an elite collector it's just personal bias.

Well yeah, I'll consider any player that doesn't have bugs but so far we don't know how each will perform. If the Pioneer is the only one w/o bugs I'll definitely swap the Samsung for it. The thing is I want a player at launch and unfortunately only Samsung can provide that. That's not to say I can't sell it and pick up another. Lord knows I've had more than my share of DVD players.

lol. I hear you on that. Currently I'm doing fine with my Yammy CX1 SDI modified. Oldie but goodie. I will most likely do the same thing. Get the Sammy first, and swap for the Pio if in fact it is better.

PS3 is what I will be using as well. Unlike all the other players, the PS3 really needs to be a 'finished' product. The other first generation players will likely be, at best, similar to the PS3 in video quality.

I figure the PS3 should get me through until second and third generation products come along.

I'll be getting a PS3 and down the line a Pioneer Elite or, if I'm a much richer man than I am today, the highest-end Denon player (this is all, of course, years and years from now).

I would not count on the PS3 having DTS Master HD or DD Tru HD.

I plaed a pre-order for the Samsung on Amazon becasue of the 10% offer. How come it says estimated release date for Samsung is:

Quote:
Shipping estimate for these items: August 7, 2006

Delivery estimate: August 8, 2006

1 "Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-Ray Disc Player"

Sum of a betty... is this thing delayed?

If you dare to look at this link, I may just have no choice but to go this route if the Samsung is delayed:

http://www.onsale.com/onsale/shop/de...=bwbgooglebase

I think that is the best price I've seen. I have a Ruby, ISCO III, and curved screen coming by June 19th... The Ruby and ISCO III will be here any day, but the Stewart screen around the 19th. I can be patient, but with this new stuff, I may have to go to the enemy. That seems like a good price (if the Samsung is delayed). I can burn it in a few months...

Mine will most likely be the PS3, although I'd like to get Sharp's player they are planning on releasing.

Come aboard. The water is good and the air is clean. I needed a quick fix as well.

WTF? How do you know the Samsung player is getting delayed? Are you sure your preorder is not being delayed because of other preorders? I doubt they'd delay it that far.

There's been no confirmation that the Samsung isn't coming out 6/25. So far it's a lot of speculation based on one site in particular, Crutchfield. That said, their site now says "Expected this summer" not 7/25.

Their website still says June 25th.
