Default Chinese Gymnists Cheated?

http://olympics.timesofindia.indiati...ow/3365641.cms

heard about the radio this morning and then saw it at work.

i didn't even realize there was an age min. in the olympics. i was watching the gymnastics last night and my girlfriend and i were trying to guess the ages of some of the gymnastics and for about 3-4 of the chinese ones we both said 12-14-13-11 and everytime they were 16. a little too coincidental now that i realize their is an age min. in the gymnastics.

i dunno though, im not that into gymnastics, anybody else think something similar.

Of course they cheated, there's no way some of those girls were 16.

This issue was brought up initially due to the Chinese Olympic website stating as much, and then being pulled down for days. It was ignored by the Olympic Committee. Now its being alledged again because China actually won. Just watch the Olympic Committee once again ignore the issue.

Well,

At least it's some variety from the usual doping style of olympics cheaters.

Gotta give it props for that.

I don't get how having younger girls is cheating. If a 12 year old girl can beat a 16 or 18 year old then theres something we're not doing.

Yeah,

We let them eat even when they don't do all the tricks right.

what i didn't get was when the lady commentator started saying even though that the Chinese girls were wobbling all over the place we shouldn't say its not perfect because they hit what they were supose to hit. But when the American girls did it. She says Oh no.

in gymnastics having a smaller, younger, more agile body is an advantage, so having a 12 year old against a 16 year old, there is actually an advantage to the 12 year old.

I think they made a min. age for this competition, because certain countries were hauling off girls at like the age of 2, training them for a decade and throwing them in the Olympics. The girls basically lost their childhood for "national pride".

No doubt all there make-up is lead based.

I’ve worked with enough Asian people to know they do look a lot younger than they are, and they generally are on the short side of average.
That said, these girls do look awfully young, and as far as them being able to beat out someone older, that’s not the issue – the issue is are the Chinese breaking the rules of the IOC?

Yeah but it was wierd that the guys happened to win the group one to. I just had questions about both of them.

Because it's in the rule book and says you can not, also i would think having a undeveloped body for a female under the age of 14 would be a advantage because of balance issues especially with what they do.

I mean we are talking about a country who follows no international buisness rules or safety standards, no question in my mind would they alter the age of people to allow them to compete and give their country the absolute best chance at winning gold.

Apparently, the birth certificates (which could be date tested) for the girls in question have gone missing, and the IOC are relying on passports.

It's the same old story with authoritarian regimes: State sponsored cheating.

It's mostly about power to weight ratios. That is maximized in 12-14 year old girls, but occurs in the early 20s for men.

But, there is also an artistic element (ah sports) that favours a taller sleeker (older) look on some apparatus.

For me, purely judged sports aren't sports at all.

i really hope the IOC and the USA doesn't let this fly.

You tell them to produce the legit birth certificates or are all chinese gymnists are stripped of their golds. that would take away about half of chinas gold medals.

i was very impressed at the beginning of these olympics with chinas presentation and their athletes, now i have realized their "olympics" is exactly like the rest of their country: fraud and fakes.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if forged birth certificates would be produced. The government can't be caught cheating, so they can expend whatever resources required to maintain the lie.

i agree on the state sponsored cheating. just looking at the girls it looks as if some recently lost baby teeth.

as for the rule, one of the reasons it was made is young children don't have that sense of danger that older athletes do. their bodies are more flexible and rebound far quicker than "adults." also, as has been discovered, young children don't have "nerves." they don't break down or have mental barriers like we do. this is why the ioc put in age limits. there should, understandably, be an age limit so that athletes really do understand the risks they are taking and what may happen to their bodies, have a sense of the pressure they are under, and what they are truly competing for.

Well that pretty much settles the question if they are cheating or not, yeah they just happen to all lose proof of age at the same time , sure china and i have freakin beach front property on the moon!
