Default Netflix users! Switch to Blockbuster now!

Ok all you netflixers,

Blockbuster has made a huge announcement to switch to blu-ray only and we should support them 100%. I would suggest that all you guys and gals email Netflix and tell them you will leave them if they don't follow suit! I've been with Blockbuster online for 2-3 years now and I love it. They do a great job of keeping Blu-rays in stock and their customer service is fantastic!

Good luck and let's end this war!

I was a member of Blockbuster after switching from Netflix because of a special offer. Then, I had FIVE , yes FIVE movies in one month never show up! They said they were sent but never arrived at my house. I have never had the problem with Netflix. I don't think I trust Blockbuster enough, but I will still use the stores when I want to rent something quickly. I think the Blockbuster online will still offer HD-DVDs.

one problem...

blockbuster overcharged until netflix came around...

I don't like supporting blockbuster but have thought about renting there as the one down the street carries BD...

Netflix has blu-ray already and I've had no problems with them being in stock.

Plus with Netflix I can stream stuff right off the site, way more useful to me then anything Blockbuster has to offer.

Most HD-DVD people are going to resent Blockbuster and go to netflix, if we all leave netflix, they may find THEY have a 70% HD-DVD rental percentage and drop BD.

I like Netflix.

I agree. If the Blockbuster decision has been made and won't be changed, then those wanting to influence things should go to Netflix and try to influence things there. Not saying that it will work, but just that it is counterproductive for Blu-ray backers to leave Netflix to HD DVD backers.

I have been with netflix for many years now and they offer blu-ray for no extra charge and I have never been a fan of the monopoly of blockbuster and have been very happy with my netflix service.

Blockbuster's announcement, in conjunction with their business model of having the option of getting/returning discs at a "brick and mortar" location has convinced me to switch to Blockbuster. But I'm not going to do it until my local Blockbuster stocks up on more Blu-rays. Of course, maybe they already have, I haven't been over there in a couple of months. I'll have to check my local one out again (and follow up as necessary). Very good news for current BD owners and for the future growth of Hi-def generally.

I haven't been there in months...and even then, BD and HD DVD had equal amount of shelf space....

even Circuit City has the same amount....they both had 1 shelf each...

except the recent BestBuy visit....I saw nearly 2:1 in shelf space favoring BD...

this is pretty much the sales ratio...so this makes sense..

Already switched, but it seems Bluray takes longer to get than when I was on Netflix...maybe because I have only been a member for about a week?

I belong to both and Netflix tends to be way faster for me. I do only have 1 at a time and 2 per month with Blockbuster now, but in the past I had equal for both and remember Netflix being faster.

Sorry I didn't be a little more specific in my post. What I meant to say was everybody should email Netflix and tell them to do the same as blockbuster. If enough people threaten not just to leave, but to leave to their competition, THEY WILL LISTEN! I didn't mean that everybody should leave Netflix right this moment. But let's admit something guys....If netflix throws in the towel for HD-DVD, this war is over!

I don't think it really matters. Emailing Netflix to follow Blockbuster or threaten to leave, won't change anything. The proof will be in the numbers. Why do you think Blockbuster is changing to Blu-ray only? Because Blu-ray was renting better than HD-DVD

I'm very happy about Blockbuster bringing this pointless war closer to an end, but I still loves my Netflix, and even if I switched to Blockbuster I'd still be renting a mix of HD and BD (and SD).

Try no to threaten Netflix. Just tell them what Blockbuster did and tell 'em you'd rather they do the same. They don't have to be engaged in the format war; they've got enough customer war already.

Just a reminder to you Netflix fanboys, with BB you get about twice the amount of movies per month because of the free instore rentals with returns. Do the math and switch.

yeah, in another thread, it shows the sales both companies get...

Blockbuster gets 5x more business than Netflix...so this would explain why it takes longer...

like anything...here it depends on what you want...

Netflix: faster service and a broader selection....less business, which makes it more convenient to the arrival of movies...plus you can find the specific movie you want..

Blockbuster: Local stores available for return...plus you get a free rental when you exchange...a move that they know Netflix can't do..

I am still a bit at a stalemate myself...but I do have a Blockbuster within 5 blocks from me that carries BD....this might be the deciding factor...I think BB soon will up their "catalogue list" after this move...personally..

Most of my HD disc viewing is a result of first my Netflix account and now my Blockbuster account. I like returning the rentals to a store and picking up the free rental. I think all Blu-ray supporters should use Blockbuster and make their support of Blu-ray a success. Staying with Netflix and renting Blu-ray won't do as much to help in my opinion. Of course those that won't use Blockbuster won't consider that move, but the majority should sure consider it.

Before you start calling someone a fan boy you should get all your info.
With Netflix you can stream as manny hours a month as dollars you pay, no extra charge. (I have the $30 - 5 disk plan because I like using it)

My problem is I can't remember to take movies to the store, a free instore rental is Usless to me.

Now an enire catalog of movies I can watch right off the web site from any PC that has internet, that's a lot of movie watching.
