Default Audio switching in movie with PS3

Is it possible to switch from bitstream to lpcm while watching a movie.

I've tried pressing the Triangle button and the going to av settings but the only thing that I can adjust is the type of speech coming out of the speakers (ie English to French to an explanation of that particular scene). I swear I read it somewhere.

I must be retarded

I don't think you can do that while watching a movie. I think you can only make those changes from the Sound settings on the XMB.

That's what I figured yet I swear that I read it somewhere that the change could be made on the fly, so-to-speak.

You can change on the fly while watching a movie by using the triangle button on the remote. After pushing the triangle button you will want to go to the AV settings which is on the 2nd row below the the numbers between the 8 & 9. Push enter. After selecting the AV Settings, scroll down to Audio Output Format, push enter, and from there you can change from PCM to bitstream & vice-versa.
