**** the Transformers cinematic universe, we need a just a Michael Bay cinematic universe. Will Smith and Martian Lawrence riding fire breathing dino bots followed by an army of Nic Cage clones fighting a giant asteroid being ridden by a coked up Dwayne Johnson.

There would be so many American flags.

No. The last I heard Joe Carnahan was to direct it. I don't know if that's true yet or not.

without Bay it's just another buddy cop action comedy. Bay made Bad Boys 1/2 great, not the films fundamentals.

Not as excited as a Bad Boys II blu-ray announcement would be, but a welcome one. However, as much as I like Joe Carnahan, please do not call it a Bad Boys sequel if Michael Bay not directing.

I think Michael Bay makes great popcorn action movies and I would prefer he directed a Bad Boys sequel but I could live without him. I couldn't get on board if they don't star Will Smith and Martin Lawrence though. Bad Boys 2 is possibly my most watched movie at home (yes even though it's a dvd!) and so much of that is because of the way they play off of each other.

Bay is WAY more important to making a real Bad Boys movie than Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are.

Without any of them though it might as well be a direct to dvd "sequel" like Starship Troopers 2 or Jarhead 2.

What if Joe Carnahan directed but Bay stayed on as a producer? Would that be an acceptable compromise?

maybe. Bay would have to be a VERY hands-on producer though, not just a credit line.

Carnahan is a great choice but my vote goes to Peter Berg, he made the best Michael Bay movie Michael Bay never made ever, Battleship. He can also do violence and hard R stuff well so he'd be a great choice.

I love Bay and would love him to do Bad Boys 3 but i'm more than happy for someone else to have a crack, especially considering the amount of time that has passed since the last one.

Yes! A fellow Battleship fan! He also did a great job on a similarly genre odd couple buddy action comedy flick - The Rundown
