Default PS2 Classics Coming to PS4?

http://gematsu.com/2015/09/ape-escap...ted-ps4-europe

Quote:
The Pan European Game Information Board has rated Ape Escape 2, Dark Cloud 2 (Dark Chronicle), and Twisted Metal: Black for PlayStation 4.

Twisted Metal: Black is already available as a PS2 Classic for PlayStation 3 in Europe. It was released in September 2012.

This would appear to be Sony bringing its selection of PS2 Classics from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4. If anything, we might find out for sure tomorrow, as Sony is holding its SCEJA Press Conference 2015 in Japan.

If it's going to be like how it is on PS3. I wonder how they would look on PS4. Though personally I rather have it in HD even if it's like those HD PS2 Collections.

I've never got around to playing the Dark Cloud series. So sounds like a good time for me to once I get a PS4.

its about damn time, although that appears that it wont be BC but the games re-coded for PS4. I already have TW on the PS3 so it would suck if it werent crossbuy

It'll likely be exactly how it looks on the PS3.

Even though I missed the ps2 gen, I think I've caught up with most (if not all) of the games that I have interest in, thanks to HD remakes, so I don't see me getting any ps2 game on the ps4

I dont think its PS Now. PS Now games dont get rated. If its an emulated version being put up on PSN for the PS4, then it would

Hopefully the PS2 Classics on PS4 don't have the same problem the ones on PS3 have. Corrupted Save File that doesn't recognize your Saved Data. Or at least that's what happened to my games. Like I would play 1 of them for a few days, and then go into it again and where it says Load Game, there is nothing there even though i've saved the game lots of times.

I have to wonder how many people are actually going to re-buy these PS2 games for what could be a 3rd or 4th time. If we own it digitally then why can't we use it across formats.

They'd better be cross play. There's no reason they can't be. Even if the data doesn't carry over.

If they added full trophy support, that's the only way I'd consider buying games again that I'd already bought on PS3. Even then, that'd only be games that are very specific. It wouldn't be everything.

I think you mean Cross Buy. Most of those games arent online enabled. I dont see why they wouldnt be Cross Buy if they are simply the same PS2 Classics and not remasters. You didnt have to repurchase the PS1 Classics when the Vita got support for that

They've also been ramping up the output of PS1 games the last couple of weeks (MML's NEXT WEEK!). I'd like to think it's for an emulator being dropped on the PS4 but that's wishful thinking. If I could play my digital PS1 library on my PS4 my PS3 would finally get disconnected.

So, if these are really gonna be HD remasters of PS2 games, I really hope for sure that they include Twisted Metal Black Online with the regular game as well. Market is so thin for online enabled car combat games, this gen.

I remember playing a little of Onimusha on the first playstation, it was pretty good, they should definitely relaunch the series

FF looks like a fun game

EDIT: oh wait, I was thinking of Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, not Onimusha, but it does look pretty good

That would be such an awful look especially with MS bringing BC to the X1. For Sony to bring these games over and not have them be BC would be such a bad PR move, that they might as well not do it. If they can run on a PS3 (and Vita or PSP if they go further and sell PS1 Classics), then there really isnt any reason why the PS4 cant. It would just send a message of greed that would unnecessarily hurt their reputation

Emulation of any game thrown on the PS3 (digital) I believe had to go through the Cell Processor. Could be wrong, I just feel after the discontinued 60GB Phat model Sony gave up on BC. Streaming has been their huge focus since.. "Giaka" or whatever the hell that was called led to PS Now & so on. Only shot of true BC is Sony emulating the Cell into a software program & bring back CD-ROM on a hardware level.

I'd like Soul Reaver 1 and 2 in HD 1080p.
Driver 1 and 2 (with a better frame rate) in HD too.
And a lot more.

Twisted Metal Black I actually never played yet.

The PSP nor the Vita have the Cell processor so that theory shouldnt matter
