I searched the thread but of course I found nothing about Doomsday, soo here it is. I popped it in just the other day and in the very beginning I had noticed horizontal lines throughout the picture. The weren't subtle, you could totally see them and it was distracting. None of my other movies have this problem so I thought it was the transfer. As anyone else seen these lines in Doomsday??

I know some folks had some issue with dots showing up on the screen with this title, and the fix was to toggle the U-Control on and off a few times and they would disappear. Doubt this will fix your problem, but hey, worth a try before you have to exchange your copy. Great flick, by the way.

I noticed this problem with the copy I got from Netflix. My lines, more like a series of horizontal dots actually, were at the top and bottom of the screen in the black bar area. It was fairly distracting though. Hope you get it worked out.

It's been posted multiple times that it's a U-Control issue. Open and close it (red button on the remote if you have a PS3 or similar player) and it should go away.
Dunno why but if U-Control doesn't load properly it seems to put the white lines across the top. |

It's fun. Some of it is useless information, some of it is fun. I like turning on the PiP in Doomsday where you can see how they filmed a scene as its playing in the movie. All in all U-Control is not the best bundle of extras that I've ever seen, but I appreciate the effort with them. I also appreciate the quality that Universal is pumping out, and I surmise that U-Control helps because it doesn't use up as much space. That's a guess though.
Overall it's not bad. I haven't played with it on Miami Vice, but I did on U-571 and its more "pop-up video" than "in-depth special features". That's not always a bad thing. |
