Talking Martial Arts, Karate, Kung-Fu, Blu-rays

I am a pretty big fan of Martial Arts, Karate, Kung-Fu, movies
I own alot of them on dvd/vhs
some (mostly vhs ones) imports from the flea market lol.

I have Kill Bill 1-2 on Blu-Ray
& Afro Samurai Season 1

& Looking to buy these titles
Can you rate there PQ and if they should be upgraded from dvd to blu (probably all dvds should be upgraded to blu but you know what i mean lol)

the forbidden kingdom
enter the dragon
house of fury
kung-fu hustle
curse of the golden flower

Any more?

Also looking for more bruce lee movies on blu-ray
and some of jackie chans older stuff like drunken master
And also blood sport / kick boxer
Dont know if these will ever make it tho.

Anything i havent listed is also welcome.

Thanks hope to chat with more people with this same interest in movies.

I also like everything else...cartoons...fighting movies..ps3 games..Everything.

My psn id is Tsmith13

Thanks

Agree with your preferences. The only Bruce Lee movie that is available at the moment is Enter The Dragon. I would also buy tons of the "old" and not so old Jackie Chan stuff. Only BD from Chan = Rush Hour 3.

My opinion on the PQ for the following movies

Forbidden Kingdom a 4.5 out of 5
The Last Dragon a 4 out of 5

I haven't seen the other 3 you listed on blu yet.

A couple more you might want to check out are

Kiss of the Dragon 3 out 5
Danny the Dog (Import) 4 out of 5

If you're a fan of a movie it's always worth the upgrade. Bottomline DVD to BLU is always an upgrade.

Yeah when i got kill bill 1-2 today i was really tempted to buy forbidden kingdom. But i try to only buy 1 o2 blu-rays / ps3 games every other week just so i dont get out of hand.

I picked it up and liked how the cover of it looked also. Kinda like a hologram feel to it. I will probably pick it up this weekend & enter the dragon or house of fury.

I was looking forward to some Jet Li movies myself. I'd like to see Fist of Legend get a good treatment on Blu. I'm pretty disappointed in the reviews for Black Mask. It's a ridiculous over the top movie, but it's fun to watch. Fearless is another decent flick from Jet Li that I think got some good play in the states.

and Hero, an excellent movie, should look great on Blu-ray.

I'd really hate to see any of these flicks, and Bruce Lee movies too, get rush jobs and crappy transfers. Of course you could say that about a lot of movies.

The only karate kind of thing that I want to buy is Kill Bill, which I am most likely getting tomorrow.

Just a warning. 'Enter the Dragon' is one of the earlier 1080i upconverts from Warner. When viewing on a 1080p set, you might notice some aliasing (jaggies). It's not that big of a deal, but I still found it a bit annoying.

In terms of martial arts movies, I'm hoping to see some old school Shaw Brothers in HD. The Celestial remasters were pretty good, so I can only imagine how the BD versions would look like.
I also wouldn't mind having options for both original audio + subtitles as well as english dubs (for both comedy factor & Wu-Tang nostalgia).

If you like Kill Bill and you like cartoons...I suggest checking out Afro Samurai season 1 on Blu-Ray...It looks awesome and the story is cool too..Alot of Blood/Fighting similar to the fight scene with black mamba & the crazy 88s.

Kill Bill volume 1 is a great movie. Looks really good.
Kill Bill volume 2 is also great i like volume 1 more personally but 2 actually looks better PQ wise imo.

If you're willing to pay around $30 for some movies you can import SPL aka Killzone and Seven Swords. There are a few others, but imo these are the only ones potentially worth the price.

If you haven't seen SPL, rent it at least!!!

Thanks for the warning. I might still get it because its a classic. Probably the best they can get it to look.

I want Hero on Blu. The sequence with the arrows would be amazing and the fight in the gaming house with the water dripping...WOW....

I meant Enter the Dragon. I just watched the Last Dragon over the weekend, so it was still fresh in my mind. Sorry.

You should buy kung-fu hustle. I have both the DVD and Blu Ray and the Blu Ray is way better. This is one of my favorite kung fu movie of all time.

House of Fury is worth the money. A fun over the top family film which got the Blu Ray treatment, and what a treatment it got. Very well done too.
