Why am I getting thread subscriptions without "asking" for them?

It seems lately that I've had threads automatically show up in my subscriptions folder without me doing the subscribing. Is this something new?

This has happened to me as long as I can remember but only for threads that I had posted in. I have never subscribed to any thread and since I do not post too much, it was easy to notice. I assumed it was a easy way to keep up with threads you're a part of instead of having the webmaster send you an email everytime somone replies to one of your post/threads (which can be quite redundant)

this happens to me all the time as well. and not that i'd ever use the subscribe feature, its always for threads i'd never subscribe to lol

go to user control panel
go to edit options on the left side
theres a drop down menu under messaging and notifications that says when I post in an thread....

click DO NOT SUBSCRIBE

AT the bottom save changes

But it's only started just recently, and not for every thread I've posted in. I even got a subscription for a thread in which I made one post versus no auto subscription for a thread where I have many posts. Odd.

the op may be describing something different, but i know for me. it happens randomly that i'm subscribed to threads

And I did check my settings as described by jwbbub described and it was set as DO NOT SUBSCRIBE.

I've always had it checked not to subscribe - but it happens anyways.

Well I have never received an email notification from bluray.com about a thread, I dont subscribe at all. Maybe you are clicking that drop down menu under thread tools.
Anyways, you can manage your subscriptions by clicking private messages and on the left hand side click subscribed threads and delete.

Ok next question is for Iceman then, can the person that starts a thread click something that makes people subscribe when they post in the thread. I looked but didnt see a way unless when the OP subscribes, everyone does

i've never gotten an email notification, i always notice it next to the thread. the little icon shows up

that does seem odd. I re-checked the first couple of pages of my subscribed threads and to the best of my knowledge, each is one where there is at least one of my posts. I do not know But at the same time (hope this is not too off topic), last weekend when I attempted to look at some of my previous posts by clicking "my posts", I got "No Matches found". Then later it worked. Then later it again said "No Matches found"

Maybe because Halloween is coming I can get away with saying we're being haunted? (j/k)

p.s. To jwbbud: to get an email notification you have to sign up for it in your preferences, not that I would reccomend as it will quickly fill your mailbox

appreciated, maybe when one of the developers sees whats going on they can give us some insight

Nope. No emails, not clicking anything special, just getting subscribed to some threads that I've posted in without doing the subscribing myself.

Multiple posts in this thread, though it's not 'subscribed'.

Try posting in the "what camera do you own" thread. That was one that just popped up as a subscription for me after I posted.
