I see a lot of comments about LaserDiscs, about it being a failed technology that never took off. Obviously they would have loved it if they sold more players, but it was always a niche device for those people that hated video tapes and/or wanted to see movies in wide screen. I bought one in 1989 and for the next few years the discs were readily available in nearly any video store. The picture at the time was excellent, and it worked very well for me. My player still works and I'm able to see Han shoot Greedo first anytime that I desire.

Hello and good day to you,
I have loved the laserdisc format ever since i started collecting them in 1998. I am still collecting Laserdisc's from 3 x Sellers in Japan / 2 x Sellers in the USA and a couple of others. I do not have any problems with flipping the disc's as this is fun and love handling them. The cover art on Laserdisc is very collectable and ''at least you do not have to squint at the print like you have to on dvd at times'' (my eye sight is normal as well.) I am in the process of purchasing 4 high end players and this will take approx 1 year. I will also be purchasing spare parts for these / HLD X0 will be fully serviced before shipment. I am an avaerage guy with average Job and very! very! patient for things. I will not pay for anything on finance and find the end result is far more enjoyable and the sense of achievement is priceless. I am also collecting dvds and am keen to purchase a HD DVD / Blu-ray players, but i am not in a hurry. To be honest what's the rush and do not see the point in selling old formats just because the the new HD formats are here. Will most likely purchase the Denon reference player, have seen the results from this player and was (blown away by the upscaling of standard DVDs.) Genuine and sincere regards to all (enjoy reading all of your threads.) ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by benmbe; 06-23-2007 at 08:23 AM. |
