Default i have a question

why is it when you watch hd movies like on HBO it takes up the whole screen but when you play movies on blu-ray players always plays in widescreen can it be changed to watch blu-ray movies in full screen like they show on HBO HD ?

Because the movie on TV is zoomed in to fill the screen. I'd rather have the letterbox bars than lose any of the picture.

i hate when channels do this! i too would mch rather keep he movie in the original aspect ratio. maybe the network thinks it is better for them to showthe movie at full screen so that the can get no complaints from tv owners who hate the black bars?

More and more TV shows are showing up on Standard Def TV with "Black Bars" at the top and bottom. I just wonder if people are complaining about it. One thing that does tick me off though is the fact that my local stations, for some reason, decide to flash the time on the screen or run some kind of weather warning, the picture shrinks and is surrounded by a big black frame.

some tv shows keep the original aspect ratio but to bad its not all tv shows

Hey, cable is cable. signals not as good as blu anyways so it doesnt bother me too much..
