He really liked the video on Risky Business and rates it 3.5
He disliked the video on 40 Year Old Virgin and rates it 3.5

What am I missing?

The dialog is more crisp and is better separated from other audio with an uncompressed audio track as well.

Any quality BD transfer has a better overall AQ/PQ presentation than the SD equivalent.

He's on his way to Japan right now, but I'd guess that the age of the film has something to do with it. Something like, Risky Business looks good for its age and 40 Year Old Virgin should have looked better being a newer film.

Just a guess.

Dismissing an entire movie? Hmm, I didn't downgrade the film at all. In fact, overall, I'd give it a solid 7.5/10 type rating - one of the rare films that is pretty much true to its IMDB rank average. However, I don't care to see a male's penis pop up in the highest definition possible over and over again. What's wrong with that? I simply would not want such a movie in my collection. Big Deal.
