I understand those are the picture formats, but I'm referring to what is basically the "language" spoken by the disc to the TV. I suspect that with Blu-rays, this isn't an issue, but I just want to make sure. I've been given PAL DVDs before and my computer would play them, but my TV wouldn't. Since HD TVs are more like computer monitors than TVs, except for the SD tuner in them, I suspect there's no problem here. Is that correct?

I understand that the frame rate is as described above, but I thought that there were more differences between PAL & NTSC than just the frame rate (50Hz/60Hz), but maybe not.

Not necessarily. "The Code" is 1080i/50.

PAL is 576i/p, in nearly all cases local distributors in Europe and Asia use this.

NTSC is 480i/p, in nearly all cases major studios use these.

HD only runs into a PAL issue with 1080/50hz aka 1080i, its very rare for a major studio to use this.

HD video at 1080/24f/p is playable on all equipment. NOTE: most US players and some game consoles won't play back a 1080p disc if PAL or 1080/50 video is at the start.

In the case of Warehouse 13, you have nothing to worry about. Universal presents the series episodes at 1080p, special features in NTSC, and bonus episode of Eureka in NTSC.

Thanks steve_dave. With the price of the UK version, even with shipping, it makes me wonder why Amazon US is currently listing this at $199. My preorder is at $149, but that's still too high and I'll probably cancel it and see what happens to the price after the release or order from the UK.

Why does the back cover say "All 63 episodes" when there are actually 64? The UK BD release actually says "All 64 episodes" on the front cover. I assume it's a typo, but pretty weird...

The season three finale was a two-hour episode called Emily Lake / Stand which aired on Oct 3, 2011.

Unhappy 2842 minutes vs 2735 minutes

Please excuse the double posting (there is another thread on the UK release).

Still confused about the US vs UK release.
Both are 15 BD's.
Both are All Regions. Same languages, etc.
US running time is 2842 minutes.
UK running time is 2735 minutes.

What's added to US release?
Have the running times been verified?

I just cancelled my US order and ordered from UK - savings of $30.
Now I'm wondering if I screwed up.

UPDATE: Response on other thread "Amazon fact checking is most likely the missing element, but truth is we don't know 100%."

Appreciated if anyone finds the definitive answer.

This is on my radar now.

Loved the show.

When it's less than $50 I'll take the dive. For now I'll just keep watching on Netflix, OnDemand and the final season on Vudu. It's a convoluted way to watch the show, but it's "free" save for the the last season.

This is one of those shows that I wanted to watch, but missed it from the beginning so I skipped it completely. For the UK price I figured it might be worth a blind-buy so I just purchased it (along with Suits Season 4...which is not available in the US on blu for some strange reason!!).

I find myself getting more and more of my blu-ray tv shows from the UK. It's crazy that I have to buy American based shows from other countries!!

You're in for a treat. Warehouse 13 is a good series with a FANTASTIC finale.

I need to see Suits.

If you like W13, you might want to eventually import Eureka.

They even have a couple crossover episodes, and I think one of them is on the W13 Blu set that would give you a an idea of what Eureka is like.

why is the UK edition so cheap compared to the US?

Does anyone have unboxing photos of the US

You can get Eureka from Amazon Germany. I got it for around $45 shipped from there a while ago, and it's a nice set.
