Default Wal*Mart sending back non-selling BDs?

So the same Walmart store that refused to price match Iron Man BD (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...37#post1187637) did something else that left me shocked. On Sunday morning they had half an isle filled with catalog titles and older releases. It was a great selection of movies. This morning it looked as though they took ¾ of the movies off the shelves and did who knows what with them, but it was the kind of site usually seen when a store is sending product back to the seller. I would say about 40 movies that had a decent stock two days ago were removed and now have empty shelves. Anyone else notice this in their Walmart?

I went in at Midnight to go get Iron Man and the same thing was in progress. 3/4 of everything was gone and being boxed up. My suspicion is new titles.

Also most of the older WalMart's are being made over to the new look that they have so that could be there reason also.

They are sent back to the vendors for other titles. The wally world I work at does this quite often. Once they get pulled, they are sent back to our claims department, scanned, boxed and sent back to the vendors. We now have two end caps as well an 8 foot section of titles at the store I work at.

unfortunatly my walmart sucks, they have all their blu's inside a glass case. And by glass case I don't mean the nice ones like the games, they are literally thrown in there in stacks. You would have to get someone just to browse and see what titles they have.

+1

The last time I bought at walmart I got one out and had more shopping too do. They locked it in a huge plastic box that I had to carry around once I got somebody to get it out of the case.

I work at Best Buy and every week we will have some people come in and pull all the DVD'S and BD's that don't sell and send them back to the vendors.

I'm always sad when they pull our Blu-rays, but sometimes we will end up receiving movies they take

My local Wal-Marts have a very poor selection, and most prices are around $30/Blu-ray. Come to think of it - I don't think i've ever seen anybody buy myself browsing their Blu-ray section.

Mine went through that a while back when they redid the sections. Actually, it happened twice. They redid the section expanding it and putting a blu-ray player section mixed in with the movies. Then they moved the whole electronics department as well as reorganizing it. I hate when stores do that and Best Buy just recently did that as well (reorganized the sections and moved the media section so the gaming sections could be expanded and made "more interactive" to use their words.

As for the glass cases, 2 of the 3 walmarts in my area do that but the one I usually go to doesn't. But, just recently, that one started putting every blu-ray movie in its own plastic container (that has an alarm). One of the most ridiculous things I've seen but at least you can hold the item and look at the front and back covers that way. I don't like it but I really hate when stuff is in cases so I guess it's better than that.
